I'm just using a couple of door hinges for the time being and they are working great for mocking this up. I have a couple of more braces to put in but I ran out of material. I'm going to use the Baltic birch to skin it then wrapped with .040 baked on white alum. My hatch is maybe an 1/8th of an inch out of square which isn't bad, I can square it up when I sheet it. I have the room for it.
