I thought I had a better pic, but this will have to do. The axle was for the standard 48" HF trailer. As a result, the wheels were underneath the trailer body. To make it so the tires did not run into the underside of the trailer, he put a length of maybe 3" box steel pipe between the trailer springs and the axle, and then he got really long, really wide shackles to hold the whole mess to the spring. I have since replaced the axle with a 66" long version, so I can get bigger wheels and tires that fit outside the trailer body.
