project completed: single 150 lb gas spring mounted 5 inches inside the door, 7.5 inches left of center (to clear the water jug/extended-run fuel tank/overhead ducting); hatch is self-opening to 90 degrees, then easily raised with one-finger to choice of 105 degrees or 110 degrees open, prop rods then inserted and locked in place
