I will probly have a small trailer at CRA to bring our pitch-in tables on. We can find a unused campsite( there is always a few held back) or hold it in the visitors parking lot or the like. I have a lot of orange cones and flags and we can instruct and/or practice backing. We can use my truck or participants vehicles. Just a thought...give me your thoughts !

Dan, another "excellent" idea. Maybe I'll bring my wife along. (or maybe not) It's still a great idea.

Maybe a "drive through" first and then a "back through" second. Double the fun.

Do I get extra credit for doing the course in a Chevy extended wheelbase van. Or do I get points deducted for having a CDL?

How about trailer backing / forwarding with the trailer hitch on the front of the "tow" vehicle just to add a little twist in the competition for those that are used to backing with a trailer

Pete, I think you would be "Over qualified" (or disqualified) with the CDL but I'd like to see your talent. You could become an instant instructor though.

I wonder if this guy would qualify?

Or this guy??

It's actually WAAAAY easier to back a 53' trailer than it it to back a teardrop.

Please note that the dead line for "early registration" is May 16, 2015.

If your registration is in by May 16, 2015, you will still be able to receive all of the benefits such as the "Free T-Shirt and the the two Breakfasts (on Saturday)

The T-Shirt order will be sent in for all those who have registered before the "Dead Line".

You can call in your order if you wish but the shirts will be ordered on May 17, 2015.

Thanks to all of the volunteers for the CRA 2105. Your help is really appreciated and needed to make things go as smooth and effortless as possible.

If there any of you who find that you need to cancel your reservation or if you cannot arrange to get to the CRA this year, I'd like you to contact me. There will be several people on the "Waiting List" and your site can be transferred easily to a new owner if your plans suddenly change.

I sure hope that this doesn't happen but if it does, please email us and we'll find someone who will buy your site.

Our email address is :

Thanks for everything.

We need more guesses..Take your best shot; you could win some nice gas money for your return trip.

Attendance guess so far:

Prize money $17.00
1 Paul04tj "A lot" (I'm not sure if this counts)
2 Paul A 119
3 Rob H 131
4 Greg V 132
05 Lorraine E 135
06 Carter 138
07 Bob H 141
08 Theresa D 142
09 Karen P 147
10 Susan 148
11 Jessy 149
12 Eric W 151
13 Larry J 152
14 Verna 158
15 John T 162
16 Bonnie 181
17 Miss Nodi 210

Using two forums will most likely cause a duplication of entries if I don't keep up.
I'll keep a list also and show it on the forums so, in case of a duplicate guess, a change can be made.

bobhenry wrote:I have once again been asked to do the Dutch oven seminar for the upcoming CRA gathering.

I am going to post this plea in several spots including the cast iron section here and on Tearjerkers.

I want input on what the group would like to see covered. I do not want it to be a direct repeat of the past seminars. I am sure there are basics we will revisit but I would like to cover some fresh topics as well. Would you all help and suggest topics that you would like to see covered. I have made every attempt to keep the seminar focused on " how and why" and will continue to try hard to avoid making it into a cooking show.

Tag on your thoughts, ideas, questions, and comments so we can have a fresh and valuable hour or so together.

Thanks for the help Bob

I made the plea above in December and got little response. I am preparing for the 3rd CRA dutch oven seminar and would like to cover topics that are of concern to YOU regarding Dutch Oven cooking.
If I am going to simply repeat the 2013 presentation you might as well watch the U-tube video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trowX9DxwVI(Preview) part 1

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WxhhCz4Clwk(Preview) part two

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5O38LR0KeBQ(Preview) Part three (even though it says "part 4

I am thinking about stack cooking, making your own parchment and foil liners from sheet goods, curing rancid smells, bees wax seasoning ..... might be new additions. With just over 90 days to go I want to polish up the presentation a bit and want it to contain topics that are of interest to YOU. So your questions / comments are needed NOW. Please help me with new and fresh ideas. We will of course go over the 4 "T" 's again (tools, technique, temperature, and treatment) but perhaps not as in depth.

Bonnie did you just volunteer to be my next dump cake baker ?

( see part 3 above )

While wandering thru Dollar General I found Cathy Mitchell's dump cake recipe book. It is a well written cook book with some very interesting recipes!

If you see one at the store take a minute and thumb thru it. At just $10.00 I bet you will purchase it as a great reference book for your cast iron cooking.
