Does anyone know a camper from Texas that camped with us this weekend? Someone told us he uses something on his camper to clean it (the aluminum) that we should try. Not sure who it was.

Gathering

Postby shortgmanp » Sun Jul 17, 2011 6:20 pm

I first want to say that I really appreciate all the hard work by all the directors and co-directors at the gathering. I also want to personally thank all that attended. It was truly an awesome gathering with great people. The event was so large it was impossible to see all the people and trailers. I tried to see them all , but I am too much of a talker to do that. It was a truly enjoyable event for Lisa, Katie and I. I can not wait till the next one. Greg P :applause:
I am a workaholic that loves a good challenge. It will also give my dad and me a good project to work on together. I plan on putting several miles on this teardrop, so I want to build it right.

Greetings all! I can't say enough good things about the past four days! I've been looking forward to this weekend ever since Kurt told me about it late in 2010. After we got home this afternoon, we stopped by our local Meijer store to pick up a fan for our friends Bob & Susan from North Carolina (red T@B that we used to own). They liked ours so much they told us to pick up a red one for them if we could find it. Instead of shipping it to them, we knew they were staying at McCormicks Creek tonight, so we drove back down there and surprised them. I have to say it was SAD, SAD, SAD to see all the empty spots tonight and the ones that were taken by 5th wheels and a few others that showed up today after we all left. Bob & Susan are the only ones of us left there tonight, so I guess since today's still the 17th and Bob & Susan are still there, the CRA is still alive! :) Here they are holding our grandson Jameson with Jennifer.

I've got my pics up on my Flickr site, but please note I've not dumped the duplicates and I've not done any editing. A handful of these pics will likely end up in an upcoming issue of AMERICAN ROAD magazine, which you all received a complimentary copy of in your goody bag. Jennifer & I have run their online message forum since its beginning in 2002 and I'll be doing a short write-up on the CRA with a few pics thrown in.

P.S. we did a little offroading with it on the way home and it handles just as good off the berm as it does on the road.
Thought I could multi task sleep and drive.

The Clarks sent me a pic they took during the dutch oven seminar. I don't know if I have to fart ,
have a bad back from lifting pots or am just crouching to get the crib notes in focus.

We had such a good time with you and Vic this week end. The seminar was just great, A+, and the cell phone bit I loved. Sorry we didn't get to say good bye but I am sure you know it would just be so long for a while.
Thanks so much for the dish!!!!! I will put a pic on when I get it together.
We really get a lot of lookers and comments on the table and I always give you the credit.

Looking forward to seeing you both again.

For those that were not there ,the cell phone bit Grani is refering to was during the D.O. seminar. I grabbed a big glob of crisco from a zip lock bag to grease the dutch oven before stating the root beer cobbler demo and just as I did my cell phone rang. I drew it carefully from my left shirt pocket with my clean left hand and without thinking transfered it to my right hand to talk. Now I have a very well greased cell phone. It was a wrong number and in disgust I pitched the cell phone into the woods. I heard several in the audience draw a surprised breath. Ms Clark, a member of the audience explained that I simply had to rest the bag in my hand and peel down the sides to expose the crisco and my hands would have never touched the shortening. ( Now she tells me). Later in the evening we had visitors and I was wandering. Vickie said she would call me to see where I was. The visitor reminded her I had thrown my phone away. That was when she had to tell them it was an improvised skit and she had placed the "wrong number" call. The cell phone was a dummy one I had literally found ran over in a Village pantry parking lot about 3 weeks earlier.

"and now you know the rest of the story"

Not me - my camper is painted Green!

Finally returned to TEXAS. We made a stop over in St. Louis to see the arch and attend a concert (not U2) from a friend who was also in town. We made another stop over in Little Rock AR before the final push home. After the many miles of trouble free towing and no traffic problems, wouldn't ya' know - the last three miles to our home was torn up for construction - the green lantern suddenly became an off road vehicle. It took us two hours just to get the mud off the jeep and the camper before we could unpack Thanks for the memories

Sure were a lot of very nice people!

We had a great week, and best of all, my wife wants to go again!
We weren't sure how we would do, both of us staying in the trailer for 9 days straight, but it worked out very well, and we're still married. ;)

Waiting for "someday" will leave you on your deathbed wondering why you didn't just rearrange your priorities and enjoy the time you had, instead of waiting for a "better" time to come along...
