True... its not hard to get by without electricity in such small trailers. People with mega rigs camp for 2 weeks (sometimes more) without any hookups.

If you need to recharge your battery, you are more than welcome to borrow our generator!

Smallest teardropper yet just registered for the TearUp!

This is Son of Sam (ie Sam's son), aka Sampson, aka Junior, aka Rick (Sheerin) Junior well if you run across him (not literally please!). He enjoys any beer you might have.

Sorry he is nude in this shot... Kate was washing his diaper apparently...

Absolutely Fred! Please come join us and bring whatever you like. It's not about what you're drinking. It's about getting together and enjoying a relaxing evening with fellow trailerites. I'll be looking forward to seeing you!

Coming to the TearUp - Best day to talk to Teardrop owners?

Postby jpod » Wed Jun 01, 2011 1:25 pm

Hi,

My brother and I are planning to visit the TearUp gathering for one day only. Our goal is to talk to and see up close as many teardrop trailers as possible. We're especially interested in meeting folks who built their own teardrops, because that's what we're thinking about doing. (Our challenge would be to build me a trailer that works for my chemical sensitivities!)

So I'd love to find out which day we'd have the best luck connecting with as many of you as possible. (Friday? Saturday? Sunday?) In other words, I guess we're looking for a time when we're most likely to find folks hanging out near their trailers, instead of out and about.

Any thoughts? And if anyone would be willing to email me to let me know you built your trailer and you'd be happy to talk with us / show us, that would be great!

Thank you so much !

Kyle Elizabeth

Teardropers are always happy to chat about their trailers.
And you would have your best luck to find people Friday and Saturday early evening.
I built my trailer and we would be happy to talk to you.

Hi Kyle,

Sorry I didn't get back via email yet, just catching up now after being away. Saw your query here as well.

Anyways Friday/Fri evening or Sat morning would work the best. Many are arriving Thurs or Friday. Many will be headed out for a paddle on Saturday, usually late morning if the weather co-operates.

There are going to be a good 50+ trailers so you'll be busy enough visiting who ever is around. This is a VERY friendly group, so just walk right over to anybody and your sure to be welcome to check out/discuss their trailers.

If you check the participants list, I include the dates each person will be attending at the TearUp along with what trailer they have. It will also indicate if it is a manufactured or home built unit.

See the list at http://tearuptheadk.com/participants.html

I'm just adding a few more recent signups, so check back a bit later for a more up to date list. We'll have 55 trailers as of today.

If you can stick around Sat night, well be having the wine and cheese event in the evening. With all the wine following, many a Teardropper might divulge their secret build techniques!

See you there!

Cheers

Dave

It's too bad you can't spend more time. I was in the same situation as you last June. I attended, but I camped the weekend. As Wayne said, Teardroppers are a friendly lot, and love showing off their handy work.

BTW/ Wayne's is one of the best home built's you will ever see! However, there are lots of equally great builds to check out. I suggest you bring a camera and note book. There are so many great ideas, it's easy to forget where you saw what.

If you have a business card and are seeking more info from a particular builder, just give them your card and request they contact you at their leisure.

Most of all you will have a great time with a great bunch of like minded people.

I don't dare show up without a Teardrop, as I have no excuse for not having mine done by now. I tend to get bogged down thinking too much about every detail. Maybe next year

But........ all this talk about beer has me thinking!

Don't worry Larry. II count 32 out of 62 trailers will actually be traditional teardrops. The rest are a variety of small travel trailers, BIG BIG rigs like Tom & Mary, Randy and Louise and a few Airstreams to boot!

If you love camping, friendly people and the outdoors, thats all you need. But we do request that you bring some sort of shelter... or the black flies / mosquitoes or bears might take you away!

So I think I have the list up to date once again. What happened? All of a sudden we know have 61 sign ups!
Is it possible to fit roughly 120 people on our site for the wine and cheese (I mean wine and prizes) night?

Don't forget to pack the following before you head to FCP heaven!

1. kayak(s) or canoe(s), but you can rent one also (if you wish to join a bunch of the paddlers to explore the
endless waterways in the Fish Creek chain of ponds)

Image

2. prize for the wine and cheese / wine and prizes night (Saturday)

Image

3. food donation for the food drive (Becky and Ed posted above about it)

4. beer/wine/refreshment for the beer sampling night on Friday (optional)

Image

5. your TearUp T-shirts, flags and mugs as a reminder of where you are

Image

6. coins for the new daily High Peaks Treats truck that will likely be running, and offering sno cones, popcorn, pop, ice
and black fly dope :o

See you all there! (might be some more updates shortly so keep posted here)

Shelter........ I don't need no stinkin shelter!

I do know about black flies, spent 9 days hiking the Northville-Lake Placid Trail in June without a tent! Also, after 2 rounds of the Adirondack 46, I've had enough bear encounters to last a lifetime.

I tend to do things at the last minute, and may just show up..
