Well the slightly less formal Fall Teardown is official! For those that are interested here is the scoop!

Where? Nick's Lake State Park, Old Forge, NY
See http://www.reserveamerica.com/jsp/commo ... index.html

Dates: September 8-10, 2006

Sites: Loop 'D'

So far Kate and I, Diane and Rick Sheerin and Steve/Phyllis Fredricks are going. I currently have sites 61, 62, 63 booked between the 3 of us.

Let me know if you can join us!

Old Forge is a great area, with lots of shopping :? and off course the water park if its warmish

An update already!

As many of your at the Spring TearUp know, Steve Fredrick's make some wicked 'Slip Adirondack Waffles'. Due to their popularity I have heard that Steve is busy improving on his formula and we be feed us his ultimate Waffle breakfast at least one morning (am I correct on that Steve?).

No worry.. if something goes wrong Kate and I have also been practicing Steve's recipe.. I think I have it down...

PS. We'll bring some fine Canuck syrup Steve!

Hope the bears like em too!

Can't make it, I'm afraid. I only have so much leave and Kate & I will be spending a week in the desert southwest in late September/early October. More material for her book!

A pity, though - I really love Old Forge.

Dave- Don't worry about the bears, Wakely (aka Wakey/Waverly/ Wakemeupbeforeyougogo)will protect us! Besides, the bears are pretty scarce in the fall (hunting season is fast approaching and they know it). If all else fails we'll just scatter Steve's waffles around the campsites- that should scare them off!  Steve I'm sorry, I just couldn't resist! I promise to never make another waffle joke :dead:
And by the way Dave, we are on sites 61,62,and 63.

I've been practicing!
Maybe we can team up for a "pot-luck" breakfast?

P.S. Where did you find Eggo's that fit your waffle iron??

Wahooo!!! Nice Steve! Definately we are coming over for breakfast whether you like it or not! Will bring Canuck syrup and maybe some Mammoso (or however you spell it).

Those photos were taken at hmm... something like 'The Comfort Inn and Suites' or some such hotel we stayed at in Lake George last week on our road trip across NY, MA and CT land.

Have you been out camping recently? We are camping in ADK land twice more before the TearDown.

Do you have an extra set of bear bells?

Think we might come down on Thursday before the TearDown and stay at fish creek, then take our time to get to Old Forge.. lots of places to stop along the way 8)

I thought so, After looking at the pic more closely!!

Just got back from a trip camping in Cape Cod, Off to the north/south gathering next, then the Tear Down in Sept, then the Tearjerkers October foliage trip in Mass.

What are bear bells..I guess I don't have them!!

They're bells you wear on your ankles to scare the bears away. You should also carry a can of pepper spray.

How do you tell black bear scat from grizzly scat? Black bear scat has the remains of nuts and berries in it, grizzly scat has bells in it and smells like pepper...

I just booked site 64.

Wendy has a function with her way-cool insurance women's group that weeked. Teardrops are much cooler than insurance. So, I'll be flying solo that weekend.

I noticed the lake prohibits motorized boats. Sounds like a nice place to do some paddling.

Tom- Great to hear you're coming to the Teardown!
Nicks Lake is a great place to paddle, good trout fishing to. I've camped there off and on for the last 30+ years. See you in Sept!!

Great Tom!

Glad you can make it...

So your making martinis and Kate and I'll be making margaritas.. Steves on Waffles, Wakley is on bear patrol, Diane's on Fly patrol... we are all set!

PS Diane... our Airstream won't be delivered till end of September. We'll be teardropping it at Nick's. Probably toss in a day or two at Fish Creek along the way.

In fact we just got back from volunteering at Ironman in Lake Placid this past weekend (5 day camp trip). What a blast!

Cheers

It was great. We are making some minor repairs and gearing up for N meets S. I also am making up an A/C unit for the tear, now that we are back into the lower 48 heat. Pics to come when they are developed.
