Toms sounds like you've never been to Old Forge and like to cook with cast iron.Well don't miss the Old Forge hardware store. They have a large variety of Lodge wares;probably maybe a little pricey but they have a variety. As for variety a have a little bit of everything,hardware-camping-fishing- books-sewing-cookwares-clothing.Well worth a walk through. Oh... ok.. yah... guess thats a hint we all should arrive 'a little later' then :D

We will try to arrive mid day then if we can... dang weather! Looks like this will be a remake of that Moffitt Beach campout LOL

We should (if all goes well) own that GMC Yukon in a few hours. Will be checking out the hitch setup tonight.

So Rick.. Wakley isn't coming? Sounds like Diane is planning to be doing some SERIOUS time intensive shopping then

Are you going to be able to bring the new rig?

Great Jim! Don't let a little rain stop yah... after all in ADK land if you don't like the weather, you're just supposed to wait 15 minutes

Dave- Yes it's true, Wakely is going to the kennel for the weekend with her sister Rosie. Having dogs is a great thing but sometimes they really tie you down.
As for the Fandrop, she won't be done by this weekend. We have all the aluminum skin on but still needs to be trimmed out and fenders painted and mounted and a bunch of little details. I told Diane I don't want to bring it out almost done, I want it to be all done. So, I guess we'll have to suffer in the Metz!!

If the Metzendorf is a rockin', don't .... Er, um, I'll shut up now before I get myself in REAL trouble.

:tipsy: C'mon over to site 64. After couple of martinis, you won't even notice the rain.

I'll have to check it out. I've been thinking about getting a 14 or 16-inch DO for making pizza. Big DO's are heavy and expensive to ship. So unless the prices are really obscene, I'll probably come out ahead.

Wendy got good buy on a pork loin. So, I'll be making DO Pineapple Pork for the entire group Satuday evening. Rick and Dianne have graciously voluntered to bring the desert.

Any suggestions (please) as for what I should bring/make for the pot luck? I'm pretty sure I'll be camping regardless of a little bad weather.

Tom, I vote for the pineapple pork. I'd even cook it with you if you'd be willing to teach me. Part of my plan was to get a DO @ OFH (Old Forge Hardware) and ask someone to introduce me to DO cooking Sat. I plan on arriving no later than about 7pm Fri. -Ray

BTW- Tom, if you made the salmon, how much do you need? Maybe I still have enough from Alaska. I also have Halibut.

Ray, for the Salmon, I usually use 3/4 to 1 pound per person. At last count we're up to 10 people. That's a lot of fish. Why don't you hang on to your Alaska salmon stash.

We can make a trip up Old Forge Saturday afternoon. When we get back, we can have a couple of pops while making dinner and discussing the basics of DO cooking. When you get home, you'll know enough to suprise Debby with DO Salmon and Asparagus (after you season that brand new oven, of course).

As for the pot luck, you could make eggs, or bring some fresh fruit.

Ok, Sounds like a plan. I'll bring some fresh fruit. I really don't have that much salmon left. See everyone on Friday. -Ray

Wahoo!!

Was touch and go the last two days in regards to owning a vehicle once again.

Fortunately we managed to sign a deal at the last second yesterday, and today I have been busy getting the new 03 Yukon SLT in 'camping mode'. Looks good so far! Unfortunately now the tear is so small I can't even see it behind me in the mirrors! I'll see how fast I can whip it up to 60mph tommorrow. So different than the days we used to accelerate slowly with the PT cruiser along with bikes and a canoe.

We're going to try and leave before noon tommorrow. Taking a magical shortcut, I figure we can get there in 4 1/2 hours or less.

We going light... no bikes or toys, no decks for our shoes, or fancy accessories to dress up the campsite... and no hammock. We're going to rough it at Nick's Lake just like the bears! oh... do bears survive without margaritis?

Weather is starting to look mucho better too!

See you all there!

I'm roughing it too. When Deb isn't camping I can get away with much less stuff and no decorations or toys. Just serious camping out. I took out the fancy 8" matress and put a 3" in. Now I can watch DVDs if it rains. See you all tomorrow. -Ray

Go figure!! I now am going to have Sat and Sun off from work. I guess working 3 14hour days in a row and probably have work 12 or 14 tomorrow warrants some time off.

Too late for us to attend the gathering, but you all have fun!!
