Folks,

How about going to the beach? July ought to be early enough to avoid jellyfish for ocean swimmers, and camping near the ocean is cool temperature-wise and in other ways.

Here's a possibility http://www.koa.com/where/va/46109/
or this http://www.htpvabeach.com/index.htm
or http://www.northlandingbeach.com/index.htm (which looks most appealing to me)

Cathi and I got started camping in this area with our kids. We love it.

What do y'all think? Please let me know which campground looks best so I can call them and scope them out.

Merry Christmas,

Wally

Wally,
If this is still a go... I have camped at both the HTP and North Landing several times. Both are great to be at, the KOA here is so "commercialized" and right on the main road, very noisy. The HTP is like being in another world back in the forest setting, but close to everything, including bus shuttle service to the beach front. North Landing is beautiful and very secluded and about 10 miles from the City of Virginia Beach. You can't go wrong with either one.

I have friends in Staunton, and we come up that way several times a year, without the camper, we stay with them. Have you heard of Staunton Landscape?

Would like to join in this camp out if the date is right.

Bob

Hi Bob,

Tentative dates for July are the 10th thru 12th at North Landing.

We will be co-sponsoring with the Southern Appalachian Tearjerkers. I have some more to do on this that I haven't done, so stay tuned.

Don't know if You'd be interested, but there is a May gathering in Ashe County, NC also.

Info on the spring gathering is here:

You do need to reserve. In case you are not registered yet on the Tearjerkers forum, and can't use the link above, this will get you to the campground:

Be SURE to let them know you are with the Tearjerkers group!
