NYS Fall Camporee at Cranberry Lake SP Oct 2-4 2009

Postby Rick Sheerin » Sun Jun 28, 2009 5:27 am

After discussing it with other members at the Tear-up, it's official, October 2-4 will be the dates for our NYS TearJerkers Fall Camporee at Cranberry Lake SP. We will be scouting out some sites within the next couple weeks and will post them so everyone can start making reservations. For those of you who have never been to the ADKs in the fall, you really must go, there is no place like it. Also, seeing it is a bit chilly that time of year, I'm thinking about having some special sweatshirts made up for the occasion, details to come. Any questions, feel free to shoot me a PM

Sweatshirts sound good. I camped out last fall at 4000 feet and froze my butt off. I don't know how they get those temperature ratings for sleeping bags but my 20 degree bag was useless at 30 degrees. We bushwacked a couple mountains and to some crashed airplane. I also practically blew out both my knees. Wow what a trip. Needless to say the wife skipped that one. I think having the tear on a fall camping trip will be much better. :)

So far we have three couples-myself and my wife Diane on site #42, Dave and Kate on site #43 and Mary and Bob on site #48. I would imagine we will have 8-10 trailers when October rolls around.

For map from Brampton:

Just 5 hours 45 minutes.. not bad...

I would like to attend this if I am welcome. My dogs are a bit intense, but I can't imagine camping without them.

Of course you are welcome, but what do you mean when you say your dogs are intense? Does that mean they bark a lot, or that they bite? Dogs that bark constantly are generally frowned upon by your fellow campers and get you in trouble with the park rangers. Everybody loves a well behaved dog.
