TearUp Potluck Evening (Saturday)

Postby campadk » Sun Jun 05, 2005 7:56 pm

How about each of us pick an item to bring to Saturday dinner and post it here. I'll update this posting to provide an up to date list with what everyone has chosen so we don't all end up bringing the same items.

The menu as of June 15:

large caesar salad - Norm and Jeanne
frogmore stew - Joan and Bill
pasta fasula - Mary, Tom and Laura
baked beans! - Steve and Phyllis
camp cobbler - Darla & Dennis
hungarian goulash soup - Alan and Leslie
barbequed chicken thighs - Dave and Kate
apple pie and sharp cheddar cheese - Rick & Diane
a pie for desert (fruit pie, maybe cherry.. and another surprise) - Arne and Shirley
cognac & cigars - Joseph

Hi all,

The wife & I are going to make Frogmore Stew {South Carolina low country boil}. Not really a stew, but boiled veggies, shrimp, and sausage in Old Bay seasoning. We can only make a serving enough for 5-6 people with the pot we have. If everyone just wants a sample, maybe 10-12 people. The pot that was used in South Carolina was big enouth to crawl into, and a burner big enough to melt steel beams, and that served only 20 people. Hopefully there will be enough food to cover our lack of servings. We are also going to bring Pa Dutch shoo-fly pies for dessert. See you all in 11 days.

Leslie and I plan to make a pot of Gulyasleves - Hungarian Goulash Soup.

I was in Europe for several weeks in May and got some good recipe advice. We'll also have a small bottle of Hungarian "apricot juice" to sample and help the digestion.

Eagerly awaiting the event next week!

Ok I just heard back from Kate. She has opted for "barbequed chicken thighs enfused with natural ADK open fire flavouring".

Being as we will be late arrivals Sat afternoon, we were going to bring 2 pies. Now that at least one apple is coming, any suggestions about what is missing we might pick up? Don't want to cook and haul, so something simple...

Also, need prices for tee shirts so we will have $$ available.... I have 2 coming my way.....

Nope, just have a seriously 19th century style appreciation for a a good cigar. Since I often find others who share that appreciation, I always bring some to share.

Come to the dark side, Dave...

Thanks for reminding me Arne about the T-Shirts. I ended up ordering 21 so the price came in at $20 US each.

As far as the menu for Saturday night... the current list of items people are contributing are available at the top of the thread... http://tnttt.com/viewtopic.php?p=36151
