Spring TearUp a Success!!

Postby campadk » Mon Jun 20, 2005 3:29 pm

Well Kate and I are just back from the ADK Spring TearUp. Wow!!

I must say the event exceeded our expectations. Not only did we have an amazing group of teardrop and tiny travel trailer (15 trailers to be exact), but more importantly we met a fantastic group of new friends from around eastern US and Canada. Talk about a friendly fun bunch!!

As well several website onlookers came by to see the teardrops, and share their own build progress or curiosity.

Although the first 2 days were spend in the rain, nobody let the weather stop them from enjoying the get together. it was sad to see some of our new friends leaving Sunday when the weather broke into sunshine though... I forgot to order perfect weather!!!

A few campers are staying through till tommorrow and enjoying this, the perfect day of weather.

Kate and I would personally like to thank each and every camper for making this event so memorable. No doubt this will become a yearly event, and as suggest by a few folk, we should plan for a 'Fall TearDown', probably Labour Day weekend.

I'll be posting a 'Trip Report' and some 300+ photos as soon as we unpack and unwind.

Hi Kate & Dave,

NO, Thank You for being wonderful hosts. You are right ,we think everyone had a great time. The food was excellent, and thanks to all. It's a shame our nest mate Gail could not make it. We did meet our other nest mates Alan & Leslie. Thanks Alan & Leslie for the tour of the lake. The craftsmanship of the homebuilts was amazing, and lots of good ideas. I even got to build my own teardrop, even if it was only play - dough. I will post my pictures in webshots later this week, and post a link. We too have clean up,and yard work to catch up on. Hopefully we can come to the next Tear Down if work doesn't interfere. BTW , Congratulations Rick & Peg on your retirement, don't forget to stop by in your travels. We hope everyone made it home safely, and looking forward to meeting you all again. Again , Thanks to all who made this a great success.

Hey Dave, good group shot. :applause: You need to Photoshop it and get rid of all that Cyan though. Bet everyone in the group would really like to have a copy of that one.
Chris :D

The tension between what is good enough and what is beyond that creates the space for character to become our work.

Hey PA,

Glad you two made it home safe and sound! Yes too bad Gail could make it... next time we hope!

Jon and Sherry, Arne & Shirley and Joseph were staying one more night (tonight)... lucky! The weather was awesome today.. such a change compared to Thurs/Fri.

We ended up booking tonight to go back to Fish Creek this Thurs through Sunday nights again, so we have to start packing to go back in a few days! The weather sounds pretty perfect too. I could have booked your site #196, but we decided to take a site down the road a bit instead. We'll have our son Adam on this one so will probably be doing some tubing and such, and get to use our bikes this time.

No doubt we'll try to get something together for labour day weekend... as I believe Rick or Gary suggested, a fall TearDown.

Hi Dave and Kate,
We had a great time in spite of the weather, and we also got to put faces to the names we see so often on this site. Thanks, and lets do this again.

Sounds like everyone had a great time and I wish that we could have made it up to meet everyone, but we are hoping for this fall or at least next spring. I touched up your photo a little in Photoshop, but it is far from perfect.

:shake hands:
New friends, old friends, & rain. The best part was the games that no one knew about. Thanks for the Play Doh. Can't wait to see those pictures. Creative people at work in the cold and wet conditions. But wait........what about pot luck. :worship: Yes the sky's cleared and the people gathered and a good time was to be had. Yummy food and prizes for the games no one knew about. :applause:  :applause:

Thanks Dave & Kate for hosting the first, and I hope many TearUps.

Just wanted to let everybody know what a fantastic time Diane and I had this past weekend. We could'nt have met a nicer group of people if we tried! Dave & Kate, you two did a stellar job, and if anyone deserved any kind of prize this weekend, it's you guys! :applause:
It was a pleasure to meet all you folks and hope to see you all again soon.
Also, Dave & Kate, if you have any extra Play-Doh could you please send it our way- I think Diane is experiencing Play-Doh withdrawl!!!

Poor Diane... she did such a great job. Luckily you limited her time on her creation or she might have never stepped out of the Metzendorf! Maybe she needs a photo to ease the pain of withdrawal... :)

Hello Everyone!
I just thought I'd take some time out from my new hobby (Play Doh) :? to let you know what a great time we had. I honestly didn't know what to expect when we went this past weekend, but we both had the BEST time. It was SO nice meeting all of you, & we really enjoyed seeing all of your really cool tear drops. I think this will really get Rick motivated to get going on the one he wants to build.
Dave & Kate, you did SUCH a great job coordinating the weekend!! Rick & I look forward to attending many more of your trips, & we hope to see everyone we met this weekend on other trips as well.
Dave- Thank you VERY much for posting the photos for us. I can now rest easy knowing the "masterpiece" has made it safely across the border.
Thanks again for everything!!!

Diane,

We claimed your creation as a 'gift' so we didn't have to pay the duty, PST or GST (taxes)

If you ever miss it, let us know and we'll smuggle it back across the border! :o

We might have to ask Mike for a TearDoh Emoticon now!

We booked to go back to Fish Creek this Thurs thru Sunday night. My son Adam will finish school Thurs so we will be taking him straight out camping before he gets depressed!

I've also arranged to have a Paha Que Canopy like Alan-Les shipped to Tupper Lake so we won't be suffering from 'Tarp Blues' this time.

Yup let us know when your headed out camping in that area, would love to meet up again!

I just might have my teardrop finished in time for Labor Day Weekend. If so, we'll be very interested in that get together.

Anyways, Dean is in charge of emoticons... Dean, you got anything that will work for playdough?
