Trailer is hitched up, kayaks & bikes loaded. We are leaving after work today.

Plan to camp somewhere between Cleveland & Buffalo tonight. Will arrive "sometime" tomorrow. As Joseph taught us last year, we will be on "teardrop time" from now on for a few weeks.

To everyone - have a safe journey.

Just got back home. What a wonderful time we had. Thanks to Dave & Kate for organizing the gathering. We can't wait till next time. It was great to meet everyone in person. Now we can put a voice with the words we read online.

The pot luck dinner was a great success. We enjoyed all of it. Debby especially liked Darla's corn casserole. I have to say I enjoyed Debby's brownies the most. :) Yea I know, its the safe thing to say, but I really enjoyed it all. The games were fun too.

The weekend really went by fast. Fish Creek Pond was a great place to camp. We usually stay in the ADK High Peaks around Lake Placid, but in the future we will keep Fish Creek in mind. I loved the breeze off the lake and the sounds of loons Sat. evening. Until now, I totally forgot about the brief rain Friday night. Fortunately we stayed dry.

A highlight for me was to spend time talking with everyone about their TD's. We look forward to seeing those who can make it to the North meets South gathering. Hope to see you there.

We got 22.5 mpg with our Subaru Forester pulling our 580lb TD this trip.

PS If I am not working next weekend. I'll try to make it to the Tear Jerker Liberty Bell Chapter gathering in Pa. next weekend. -Ray & Debby

Hi All,

Pateardropper & toypusher both arrived home safely about the same time. The different route home shaved 32 miles, and 1 hours time. Lots better scenery then parked Jersey cars on a thruway. The job of cleaning those huge Adirondack insects off my canoe bow,and truck windshield, after our spirited tour through the Adirondacks still remains.

It was great to meet old friends, and make new ones. Once again ,many thanks to Kate & Dave for getting it all together again . The games were lots of fun. We were blessed by much better weather too. The food from everyone was truely awesome. Looking forward to doing it again next spring.

I will post a link to my webshots album of photos of the trip ,later this week. Everyone have a fun summer camping. See a couple of you in a few short weeks ,and to everyone else we hope to see you again next year.

I put together a slideshow of our entire trip at http://www.tomswenson.com/teardrop/adk2006/index.shtml. You'll have to click through lots of paddling photos to get to the gathering pix.

We want to give a big thank you to Kate and Dave for organizing this great event. We had a WONDERFUL time. We also want to thank them for the wonderful teardrop print we won in the drawing. We're going to take to a local framing shop, then put it on display in our Teardrop's cabin.

It was great meeting all of you and look forward to seeing some of you at North Meets South in August.

We got home last night to 90-deg temp!! What a difference a couple of hours travel down-hill can make!
I'm already preparing for a trip to the Cape in July, then North/South gathering!

Thanks!! Dave and Kate, for the great time. The games, fellowship, and the pot-luck, all great! An event that we look forward to.

Thanks everyone for sharing your campsites!
Blessings, Steve

What a great time! Fabulous weekend. Can't thank Dave and Kate enough for all of their efforts.

The trip up was not a pleasant one. It took 10 hours to get there!!! We went throught NJ for about 75 miles and probably did not average 25MPH!! Some pretty bad roads too!

After getting there, the rest was just alot of fun and relaxation. Can hardly wait for next year. It was great to finally meet so many of the folks that we had only known from their participation here on the board. It was great to see all of the different teardrops and the way each was set up for the event. (got a few new ideas for the next trip too)

Hope more of you out there will consider joining in the fun next year!!! See everybody at the North meets South!

Post TearUp Quickie Report

Postby campadk » Mon Jun 19, 2006 9:42 pm

Well we're back! And in one piece!!

What a blast Kate and I had with a fine group of people!!! Great company, great weather, great food! We'd really like to thank everyone for coming and making this years event so special.

Lets hope Steve can get the hang of his waffle maker next year! Way to go Steve!

Image

I have over 400 photos, lots of great ones!! I'll post on the TearUp site shortly.

Anyways for those of you that left Sunday, the rest of us kept the party going... beside great weather all day we took out some of the gang for a 'sunset cruise' up the creek into Upper Saranac Lake. What a great sunset!

Image

Passed some fine classic barrel boats out enjoying the sunset...

Image

Sunday night we enjoyed a fine get together at Tom and Mary's for a bonfire and fiddle playing, spruce tip maple syrup and some unbelieveable pastromy strips and venison jerky courtesy of Marc and April. April is an incredible fiddle player (2 time Canadian Champion!). We won't make her blush... but be sure to check out her web site at http://www.aprilverch.com/ . We didn't realize we had celebrities in our midst!

Image

Now then... about the weather!!! Kate and I had packed up and had the trailer all hitched up... dropped off our garbage and went over to have a shower, when all of a sudden the sky's began to rumble LOUD... then unbelievable sheets of rain pelted down on us. The winds were fierce at times.. but not for long... check out the action!...

Image

There was some damage... lots of branches down, a mid size tree fell on a truck (no noticeable damage), an awning ripped off a large RV, and several flattened tents.. unfortunately including Dougs...

Image

We looked for Al and Leslie who were out biking just before the storm... we believe they must of got super soaked, and probably look like this...

Image

The Group Shot (missing Marc and April and Joseph's Kate)...

Now about the slightly less formal 'Fall TearDown'... how about labour day weekend? Sep 1-4th? That works well for us, and its a long weekend. The other option would be Sep 8-10th.
