I was there on June 22nd. 2 of the group campgrounds were under water and the spillway was flowing pretty well. There was high water all over the state about that time. I didn't see any problems at the Riverside West part though.

Crawford in March sounds like fun. I'll check into it.

One thing to think about, as far as camping in March, most state parks don't turn the water on or open the bathrooms until mid-April.

Unless something has changed the facilities at Crawford, group area are open all year. That is the only bath room that used to be opened...

Cool. Lets plan on June 3-5. I'll get the group areas checked out and report back. We might have to get a couple of the group areas. :D

I'm planning on checking out the group sites at JRR on Sunday. Going to take a tour of El Dorado Lake also.

Darren, we camped out at El Dorado a few years ago below the dam. It had a pretty good campground but the trees were pretty scarce. The thing about that lake is it's in the Flint Hills (which are nice) but the wind NEVER seems to quit blowing and the campgrounds around the lake don't have alot of shelter from it. That's why we camped below the dam but I didn't go to all of the campgrounds so I don't want to discourage anybody from going there.

Thanks for the info Jeff. I lived in Wichita for several years and it is always windy down there. I'll see what they have to offer since I'll be traveling by there. The group site looks like a no go with no trees there but that's based on the Google images.
