List of North Central gatherings for 2010.

Postby Darren » Sun Oct 11, 2009 11:34 am

I decided to start a list in case someone wanted to organize a gathering. This way they would know what else is happening and could avoid overlapping dates or having it to close to another event. This is a list of the gatherings I saw for 2009 so thought it would be a good starting point. Feel free to add to or edit the list as the gatherings details are locked down. If you originally organized the gathering and are not going to have it again please note it, someone else might want to keep it going. There were several park reports over the last year that looked like great locations for gatherings. Oklahoma Natural Falls and Van Meter State Park come to mind.

Beavers Bend, 03/26/2010 - 03/28/2010

Pershing State Park, 04/16/2010 - 04/18/2010

Missouri Mill Creek - Tablerock Lake, 04/30/2010 - 05/02/2010

Watkins Mill State Park, Missouri, 05/14/2010 - 05/16/2010

Natural Falls State Park, Missouri, 06/04/2010 - 06/06/2010

Knob Noster State Park, Missouri, 09/17/2010 - 09/19/2010

Last Gasp of Summer, Colorado, 09/23/2010 - 09/26/2010

Crawford State Park, Kansas, 09/24/2010 - 09/26/2010

LCG, 10/29/2010 - 10/31/2010

Knob Noster State Park, Missouri, 10/30/2010 - 10/31/2010

Petit Jean State Park, Arkansas, 11/12/2010 - 11/14/2010

Let's go camping!

MOGA 2010

Postby GeoDrop » Sun Oct 11, 2009 1:13 pm

For the Teardop'ng Geocachers in the bunch, MOGA 2010 (http://mogageo.com/) will be April 9-11 at the Mark Twain Lake near Monroe City, MO. This might be a good time to have a little "sub" get-together for those of us who Geocache or those that want to learn. It's a great event!

This list is going to be very helpful. In our line of work, we have to plan pretty far in advance, for vacation time. Thanks for starting it.

I always seem to miss Beavers Bend and it's not that far away.

I signed up also. I'm hoping to make it out to central Kansas next year. I want to go to Tuttle Creek. I might do that in November if the weather is good.

I'll update the list once I get home.

Thanks for all the input.

Darren, Scott State Park in kansas is a good park...their bathhouses have no roof...like showering outside in the open....not a place for the winter though. Jeanne

I updated a couple of the dates. Also look for the Crawford 2010 posting and post what dates work best for you. Thanks.

There is a bath house at Scott Lake across from the "Swim Beach" that is enclosed and really a nice facility.

Just thought you might want to know.

I'd love to work on a campout in the NE corner -ish area of Oklahoma and you know you KS/MO friends would have to come.

One of the places that comes to mind, it is known to flood in Apr/May .

We would love to get a close camp this Spring. This corner of the 4-states does tend to flood in Spring.

We'll have to see what Rickxr2 thinks of that Natural Springs Park, I don't think there's a lake there.. It would be a great place, and there on the OK/KS border , north of Siloam Springs, I think .

The Ft Gibson dam site would be a great place for us but they flood in the spring.

If anyone is interested there is a Freedom concert in Tulsa August 20th. Sue and I are thinking of attending and camping out nearby. Perhaps a little gathering could be cooked up in Oklahoma'ville around that weekend? Just a thought. Here is a link for more info in the concert. https://freedomconcerts.com/
