Wisconsin's Black River State Forest Camping Trip

Anywhere in the country is fine. Where do you want to camp?

Wisconsin's Black River State Forest Camping Trip

Postby TPMcGinty » Wed Jun 04, 2008 11:03 am

Hey everyone. Baron and I want to go camping on the nights of July 20th and 21st at a Minnesota State Park. I'm thinking about either Banning State Park or Jay Cooke State Park. This is Sunday and Monday night.

I know this will not be good for many people's schedule, but it fits my schedule. The advantage to these nights is many people will be departing for home on Sunday, therefore there shouldn't be much of a crowd. If anyone is interested please let me know so we can discuss where you'd like to camp. If there is no one interested than I will be doing a solo.

This probably will be my first official campout in my teardrop. Here's your chance to TP my trailer. If you can't make it then you miss out.

Jim, I'd be willing to go south of the Cities if you wanted to go. I'd also be willing to go into Wisconsin a ways if needed if others wanted to attend. I thought that me wanting to camp on Sunday and Monday nights would would make it hard for most people.

I'm liking that park!
It is still about a billion miles away though, right? :R

How about Black River State Forest? It seems to have 3 campgrounds. It might even be near Betsey and Craig! Is it?

This place looks like it would be smak dab in the middle of everywhere. What I mean is, I checked how far it is from everyones place of residence (Pine City Campers), and it's about 2-3 hours from everyone.

Let me know where you decide to go...I would probably be available those dates.

So far I have the following who are interested in camping the night of the July 20th and 21st (this is Sunday and Monday nights):

Jim - South of the Twin Cities
Dianne - Wisconsin
Buzz - Anywhere

If there is anyone else or any changes to the above names let me know. We still haven't decided on where to camp. But my vote is for Black River State Forest in Wisconsin. For the reason mentioned in my previous post.

That Black River area is very interesting...a good sized river, lots of rock formations, big woods. And it's even easy to get to...right on the interstate system!
A guy I work with just took his Boy Scout troop canoeing on the Black River in that area and said it was outstanding!
Not sure what the bike trails are in that park...the website mentions biking but I haven't found any other info about the trail system.

Tim,
I think Sue and I could do that.
I liked when you said Banning or Jay Cooke, but certainly understand going somewhere central for everyone. We can't always camp a few miles away.
So, count us in.
How is Baron doing?

ING'ers: I have a pile of pix from last weekend that I'm going to get uploaded soon. I'll post the album link when I get that accomplished. Sadly this week I have barely had the time to unpack the cooler!
McGinty: Nice job on the trailer. I hadn't checked your album for a few days....Looking Good! I see it's a 5 footer...Baron will like that!
Toby & Sue: Glad to hear you might consider the run to BRF (if that's where they decide to go)...It wouldn't be a bad drive from Pine City. It's less than an hour from my place so I almost feel guilty.
