Postby Staryder61 » Thu Apr 19, 2018 3:03 pm

Purpose of this post, is to see who might be interested in participating at a gathering at Mother Neff State Park..

The camping area at Mother Neff SP is now open..
There are 20 sites with full hookups. That include: water, sewer and 50/30-amp electricity

As you can see by the enclosed map. There is still much to enjoy..
Though, part of the park is still closed for renovations from flood damage..

This is definitely on my radar, its about three hours including stops for me which is just right. I wont be doing any long drives until I finish and sell the camper I am working on in about a month and then I plan to do a long trip to Colorado to see my father or a long trip to tour Arkansas depending on availability, after that is when I would be able to go. I dont camp in summer so Sept might work out good for Mother Neff

September sounds good.. A quick check of sites available at Mother Neff,,

Just threw in a couple dates and came up with..
Arrival: Sept 5th - Departure: Sept 8th. 18 sites available
Arrival: Sept 13th - Departure: Sept 16th. 16 sites available.. .
Arrival: Sept 19th - Departure: Sept 22nd. 17 sites available..

Not sure how fast they fill up.. or if they do that time of year.. So this might be possible..
Have to see if others will be interested in this..
Stay safe, David

Hey Thomas,

Are you still thinking about the Walk The Winds gathering too?
Holy cow, Rose is a teenager now! Done? Surely you jest. A teardrop is never "done".

Thomas, does any of the dates in Sept. look like they would work for you?
I want to do a shake down cruise with the drop around here close when I finally get it finished.
Thinking, Mother Neff might be a good place to do that, maybe this next month (May) or very first part of June for a few days.
That would also be a good way to check out the park..

Right now my camp schedule is dictated by when I finish this next camper and I don't think I will be making it up as far as Wyoming this year unfortunately, maybe when I am "really" retired!!

The dates all look fine to me but I am not booking anything at all right now, that is still the camping season so it should be fairly busy that time time of year. I certainly am getting spoiled on mid week camping, even at the busiest time of year if you show up Sun-wed you pretty much have the park to yourself!

Mid week camping sounds great too and works for us.. You're right, looking at calendars for most parks. During the week, most dates are open..
Either way works for us. We just want to get the drop finished and go camping.

I'm in. Just set the date(s), and please make a list of possible attendees. I like camping with the large group, now my friends, from South Central...a great bunch, IMHO.

After seeing the new calendar posting that Thomas has updated..
We're thinking of doing:

September
Dinosaur Valley State Park Sept 14th
FB linky: https://www.facebook.com/events/234533330436358/

And either hitting Mother Neff SP, Tuesday Sept 11th through Thursday Sept 13 before, Dinosaur Valley SP, or Monday Sept 17 through Sept 19th or 20th after Dinosaur Valley SP

...heck, it doesn't sound too bad to me either...both of those parks are on my "list"...was actually thinking Mother Neff, then San Angelo and onto FT Davis with side trips to Monahan Hills and Balmoreha...finishing with a trip down to Terligua, Lajitas, Big Bend and Seminol canyon...all in all, a month long trip..........

So which sounds better? Mother Neff before Dinosaur Valley or after?
We've booked our reservation at Dinosaur Valley today..

...for me, Mother Neff is on the way to Dinosaur Valley...I would probably spend a couple of nights there...then a night or 2 at Dinosaur...if I keep on, I would goto Abilene SP, (I have a personal reason). Monahan Sand Hills, Balmorhea and Davis Mountains would follow...all is still in air(health and finances...doanchano)...................
