What's the smoke/fire situation like in lower Idaho right now ?
Gonna be up there in 2 weeks but will have one in our group that may be sensitive to smoke.

Smoke comes and goes. Was not to bad today. Horizon is not visible. Very hard to predict even what it will be next hour

Every thing is dry here and a dry lighting storm or a mes of stupid humans and off the fire goes.

Where we will be camping is in short desert cheat grass. If a fire happens to start we will have plenty of time to do something. Including driving into the fire. I have done that trick many times. And I was driving an old jeep where the driver sat on the gas tank. And the tank leaked. LOL In this stuff the fire is only a few feet wide not really that dangerous to humans with a bit of sense.

I was up to Cream Can Junction tonight.

About 2 miles east of Minidoka turn north on "Desert Rd" ( saving money on road signs ). Go north about 15-16 miles. Excellent desert road. Gravel all the way.

At Cream Can Junction turn west about 1/4 mile and there is a bit of a turn off going south. Camp some place in that area.

I just drove an old Mercedes out there. We can do it. Unless there is a whole lot of rain. A sheep out fit might set up there but I think it is a bit early for them to be this far south for another 3-6 weeks. But what do I know. If there is there are plenty of other places. I will try to message some one.

I am going to head out early tomorrow. Early for me.

Weather looks a lot better than many of my campouts. Will be chilly at night of course but may not even freeze. No wind predicted but it is the desert.

Randy,

I'm sure you feel bad about having sunshine and high's in the 70's without a lot of wind.
But I will take that. 8) :applause:

Pictures to follow..........

And now for the :pictures:

Sunset Friday night

163431

Woke up real early Saturday morning.
Made breakfast and afterwards decided to explore the area before the sun even peeked over the horizon.
Came across this little fellow out in the open on a rocky out cropping.

163432

Since it was only 48 deg., he or she had no clue I was in the area.
Eyes are closed and absolutely no movement or reaction to my presence.
Picture was taken with a long range lens.

George wanted to explore a path across a lava out cropping, so off we were.
Even tho it was a two track, looks like it gets very little use.

Wolfgang, Zeke was very sad you did not say goodbye to him. He started to follow you as you drove off, it was pretty sad.

Don't forget to text me.

Thanks for sharing the fun on the lava road.

Yea, I saw him follow my rig for a bit and was starting to wonder if he was going to stop and turn back to home.

After breakfast we decided to explore a crater close to camp before heading back home.

If you look real close you can see our rigs on the other side of the crater rim.

This picture gives you an idea on big this really is.

Next three pictures are of the rock formations near the crater edge.

What a great place to poke around.
Thanks Randy for putting this outing together and George for researching things to explore.
Till next time............
