Hi, Gang!

Just go this announcement from Bill @ Doheny State Beach. Sounds like a nice weekend for any of you So-Cal campers (and any others who might be in the area at the time!). Please contact Bill directly at [email protected] for any more info.

CHEERS!

Doheny State Beach, California's first state beach, turns 75 this year, and the Doheny State Beach Interpretive Association is planning an anniversary open house. We have planned a number of events to show-case Doheny and its history. We would like to set up a vintage camping area showing what camping was like early in the park's history. We are looking for any of your club members who might be willing to participate in this event which is scheduled for Saturday, June 24, 2006, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Participants would be allowed in the park on June 23 and would not have to leave until June 25 and camping fees would be waived. We are creating a vintage camping area in the north day-use area which is separate from our regular camping. The area is shaded by trees, and it's about 100 feet from the ocean. For more information on Doheny see www.dohenystatebeach.org Please have interested participants contact me. Thank you.

Just sent a message off to him. Sounds like a nice weekend! I'll have to strap the surfboard to the 54 Chevy wagon for this trip.

Leon, I sent him one early this afternoon. Haven't heard anything yet. Guess I'll have to put the racks on the tear for my board or I could just throw it in the back of the '59.

Have a good day.

I believe that the period (.) after the "org" in the original link is the culprit......

...I edited out the period behind org and it works fine now................................................... 8)

Well, that makes three of us so far. Image

Now do I put the surfboard on the tear or on the wagon? Maybe I'll just throw it in the back like I used to do when my racks would wonder off while I was surfing. Interesting, I used to surf Doheny in the late 50's, early 60's.

Have a good day.

Yep, used to surf with the big names of today. I wanted to make some money and have a life so I went to work in Aerospace and they stayed with making boards.

Have a good day.

P.S. We also had skate boards back then with steel wheels. I also made one with wood wheels that I took off a pair of shoe skates (they didn't work to good).
