Traveling to the IRG from the North on 101...

Postby Dean in Eureka, CA » Tue Jul 11, 2006 2:16 pm

The Klammath bridge on Highway 101, which is right at the Northern border of Humboldt County is currently closed from 10:00pm-5:00am each day for construction purposes.
I don't know if this will be the case two weeks from now, but for those coming down the 101 corridor from the North might want to make your travel plans to cross this bridge before 10:00pm at night, otherwise you'll be stuck at Klammath until 5:00am in the morning.

Eddie,
I'm pretty sure the roads to the South of us are clear.
If you're coming up 1 on the coast, you can cut over to 101 on 20 or go to Fort Brag and cut across there, which comes out at Legget on 101.
If you're coming up 1, I don't need to let you know that the roads are narrow and winding, right? ;)
Hey I'm getting excited too!!! (Got the T-shirts yesterday!!!)

Thanks for the info Dean.
We're coming from Harris Beach SP Wednesday. Should be there in plenty of time for Ranger Pat's Tree Talk.

I'll be leaving Grangeville on Sunday the 21st, soon as Church lets out. Gives me a chance to camp through Oregon for a few days on the way. I will be coming through the area you mention, Dean. Thanks for the heads up!!!
Dean (no, not that Dean. The other Dean.)

Dean--
If I'm not mistaken, Highway 20 goes from Highway 1 in Fort Bragg to Highway 101 in Willits, then further east to I-80. If you take Highway 1 north of Fort Bragg it will swing in and join Highway 101 in the thriving metropolis of Leggett. Just be careful not to blink when going through Leggett - you'll miss the bar and gas station.

Rob,
You are probably not mistaken... I just know that I can cut over to Fort Brag at Leggett and Lee said 20 goes over to the coast too...
Hey... Let's not forget the Drive Through Tree in that bustling metropolis of Leggett.
