Hey George,
I don't know where you are planing on cutting over to the coast, but if you end up on 101 as far south as Crescent City... Be sure to time your crossing of the Klammath bridge correctly. (The bridge is about 40 minutes South of CC, right at the Northern Humboldt County line... It's the one with the Grizzley Bear Statues at each end)
That bridge is closed from 10:00pm - 5:00am for construction purposes right now.

I will probably leave Thursday or Friday morning. I-5 to Grants pass, 199 to 101 and down 36. It's about 8 hours driving time from Portland PG. According to Mapquest.
If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always got.

Hi all,
We are taking two weeks off
Marysville to Cape Disapointment State Park, WA 7/23
then to Beachside State Park, OR 7/24,
then Harris Beach State Park OR, 7/25
and on to
PAMPLIN GROVE, 7/26 :applause: :applause:

On the way home we'll probably pull into the KOA in Crescent City the first night to do laundry and such.

Man, I need a vacation.

We'll leave here on Sunday the 23rd stop in El Paso, drive on till we get to the CA border and stop again. Then we will visit Mouse Land for for a day and head up to IRG Thursday. We may or may not stay a night along the way, I haven't decided on that yet.

Leaving Grangeville, ID on the 23rd, after church. First night in Umitilla forest near Ukiah, OR. Monday night, Umpqua forest near Crater Lake. Tues night, somewhere on the CA-OR state line, then into Pamplin Wed.
That's a lot of nights for 900+ miles travel, I know, but I'm a slow go-er. Gives me lots of time for pics and messing about.

See you all there. Wish it was time to go NOW! :)

Well i'm going from Simi to the I- 5 to spend Tue at Campers Inn
R.V. Park& Golf Course
I-5 & cr-e4 Dunnigan spend the night 20 to 101.
I'm old and slow but want to be so I don't miss a thing.
How long well it take me from I-5 on the 20 to get to the 101 at Willits and from Willits to Pamplin?

Hi all,

Well, there's good news and there's bad news. Bad news is that I just couldn't get the Desert Dawg to the point where I could bring it. It's close but I don't want to throw it together just for the sake of making the trip. The good news is that I'm still coming, but with my friend's tent trailer in tow.

Vegas is not in a very good location when it comes to heading towards the northern California. I could travel the two lane up through Reno, then up towards the coast. That would be all two lane roads. The other alternative is to head down towards LA, cut across through Bakersfield then catch I-5 all the way up to 101. I've decided on the I-5 route and have made some reservations just south of San Francisco at the Sunset Beach state park. Then on up to the redwoods.

We are actually leaving on Sunday and are going to spend a couple of days just hanging out and seeing what there is to see in Northern California.

Anyway, it's going to be a good time! See 'ya there!!

For those of us travelling north on I-5 then west on Highway 20 be prepared for construction. On Hwy 20 between I-5 and Hwy 101 there is about a mile of dirt road where road construction is occurring. It can add 30-45 minutes to your trip and is a bit rough, so be prepared. Driving Hwy 16 from Woodland to Hwy 20 will not get you around it. Hwy 16 is prettier than I-5, but is slower driving through the hills, farmland, vineyards, and casino. :?

Bill--
I'd guess about 30-40 miles from I-5 to 101, but that is just a guess. Perhaps someone else knows for sure?
