Dutch Oven Chicken Dinner

Postby Loader » Wed Apr 18, 2007 11:53 am

Thought I'd try a dutch oven chicken and biscuits. Turned out pretty well.

I just took a whole roaster, put a little olive oil on it, sprinkled some spices, put a couple pats of butter and about 1/2 cup chicken broth in the DO. Threw in some small red potatoes and an onion (quartered/sliced) As for the biscuits, since it was my first attempt at them, I used out of the roll Pilsbury.

You can pick up Lodge DOs at Wal-Mart (at least around here). I bought mine at Cabela's.

Hey Loader,

That's a great looking dinner you made up! I'm hungry just looking at the picture. :) That plate of biscuits looks mighty good too. I find that using Pillsbury biscuits is a quick and easy way to make up a bunch of great biscuits. They looked like they were cooked to perfection too. Great job on the whole meal.

My roommate's boyfriend was proudly saying how it's a tradition for him and his buddies to eat hotdogs and canned beans when they go camping. I think his buddies would change their mind if they had your chicken and biscuits sitting in front of them. The aroma alone would drive them nuts! We won't even mention the cobbler.

Joanne

Thanks for the kind words all. Steve, you are correct, it was quite tasty!

If there was a way Ma3tt......perhaps some day at a gathering you and the other DO chefs can teach me a thing or three!

It took about 2 1/2 hours (didn't watch real close), the biscuits went real quick, maybe 5-10 mins.

Kenosha huh? I grew up in Antioch.

Scott,

I got the Lodge 12" DO for F.D. last year. My wife picked it up at a Wal-Mart here on the north side somewhere. At one time all of them carried the DO.
