How do you use the 7 buscuit pan?

Postby Catoosa Grani » Sat May 12, 2007 8:22 pm

Well, I saw this wonderful pan that holds 7 biscuits and thought how great it would be. Now remember, I haven't even used a DO, but just had to have that pan. Now, I have no idea how to cook in it, where to put it, etc.
I sure feel stupid but could someone help me?

Interesting! Does it fit in a dutch oven? Is it round? Diameter? Where did you get it? Picture?

If it's one of those round ones with the biscuits molded between bars, I'd use it for muffins, biscuits and cornbread.

It'd have to be a dang big DO, but then again -- ideally you could buy two and use one as a lid

Yes, that is the one. I know what to do with it, just not how to cook with it. When I ordered it I thought it would fit into the DO but it doesn't. Do I just use the oven? My lids won't work on it and I thought it needed to have a tight lid for the biscuits to cook. Tomorrow we are doing our first DO meal. I plan to take pictures and hope it turns out o.k. We were going to do biscuits for breakfast in the new pan but guess we will just use the DO. Thanks for your replies.

Grani,

What is the diameter of the pan across the handles? Maybe it'll fit in a larger DO. I've seen those pans on the Lodge website, often thought about getting one to use in a DO, but not sure what size DO it would fit in.

Kevin, it measures 13" at the widest part across the handles. I guess it would fit in a 14" pan. None of my pans are that big. Guess I will have to get a 14" one now, any excuse will work.

Thanks Grani,
Looks like it won't fit in my 12" lodge. Hey Dean, will this pan fit in your 14" DO?

It works in a regular oven so It should work in a DO. You might need to put a trivet under it so they don't burn and set it in a bigger oven. It is possible the handles will keep it off the bottom.

Wonder if you can stack them.

I'm sure it'll fit in his 20"er.

doesn't seem to need a lid if used inside a (closed) one of these:

You may want your biscuits to have smoother tops though.

Thanks, Laredo, I will just have to try different methods but I will use it some how. Guess I could plant flowers in it. Just kidding!

Thanks again!
