Recipes that work best for teardroppers

I'm exactly like Bled--mayo only on a BLT, tuna, turkey or chicken salad sandwich. My wife puts it on SPAGHETTI. (It's a Latin thing, I think.)

Dean, I used to do economic development marketing for Gilroy (and a lot of other places) at my last job, for an economic development magazine. I drove through Gilroy my last trip out west (I got lost), and I've seen shows about that festival.

And yep, they make garlic ice cream, but that's just a ridiculous PR stunt because you can't taste it through the TV and I refuse to believe anyone in their right mind would actually eat it if they weren't trying to promote and sell garlic!

And Stan--you have any kind of itinerary for your FL trip yet?

Unfortunately, the one and only time I ate at the Stinking Rose ("Where we flavor our garlic with food!") I seriously stuffed myself leaving no room for the garlic ice cream. Next time I'll know better and will be able to try it.

BTW, ever been to the UK? I didn't see mayo on their pizzas but among the toppings offered over there are peas and sweet corn. I thought it might be a Scottish thing, but I saw the same thing in London.

No itinerary. Not even sure when we'd be pulling in or leaving. We have a time share in Orlando and we'll have to do Magic Kingdom with the 3YO granddaughter, but the wife and I will have lots of slack time.

To get back on topic, my daughter puts mayo and ketchup on her hotdogs. Now THAT is wierd!!!!

Chris :D

I discovered sweet relish in like 1992, and I've been making up for lost time ever since. I guess it wasn't a big New York City thing. Only mustard and sauerkraut there.

And if we saw a kid putting ketchup on his hot dog, not only was he heaped upon with verbal abuse unimaginable to normal human beings, but the guy is STILL walking funny from the wedgey that we gave him.

Hot dog or polish dog:

Slit dog down the middle 3/4 the way so the two sides stay together and grill or pan cook.
Grill bun if desired
Put dog in bun with your choice of mustard and relish on either side next to the outside bun.
Inside the groove of the dog put a bit of Ranch or Italian dressing.
Then take the canned type onions used on green bean casserole and warm some in a skillet and put them inside the grove with the dressing.

That's a twist of putting chopped onions inside but the small change of the canned onions seems a good fit.

A Life without Onions and Garlic isn't a fully explored life.

Smiles :)

I remember a Dirty Harry movie where, after checking out a particularly bloody, grisly murder scene, Harry looks over at another cop who is eating a hot dog.
Harry: "You know what's really disgusting about all this?"
Cop: "No. What?"
Harry: : "Nobody, but NOBODY puts ketchup on a hot dog."

Is that kinda like putting the baked beans on top of the potatoe salad. Of course, the potatoe salad has to be made with salad dressing, not mayo....

I could never understand the potato chips or shoestring pototoes on a sandwich thing.

I also couldn't get into the gefilte fish or chopped liver trend that swept the country for so long--but my mother MADE me eat that stuff now and then.
