A couple of years ago, I bought a plywood teardrop on a 4 x 8 Harbor Freight frame. After two years outside under a tarp, I discovered that the plywood shell up top was delaminating terribly. I started tearing off the rotten stuff, and ended up with a 4' x 2' hole, roughly, and stopped there because I wasn't sure what to do next. The inner shell and interior are intact, but the outer shell is in rough shape.
A pic in its better days may be seen at: http://www.freestateflyfishers.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=4334
Several friends who have skills in carpentry, boatbuilding, etc. have all pronounced it a rebuild. My problem is I don't have a garage, and no patience for a complete rebuild, and no place to keep it nice if I did rebuild it. So it's gotta go, and it's going as-is.
What is DOES have going for it is a lot of stuff you won't have to buy once you get done rebuilding the shell:
--three brand new 6-ply tires -- not Harbor Freight crap
--marine battery that recharges when towing, plus a solar trickle charger. This operates a light and a ventilation fan.
--small AC unit that runs when you have a spot to plug in.
--space heater and toaster oven "" "" "" """""""""""""""""""""""""
--single bed with mattress and pad; frame breaks down into two pieces for easy removal.
--butane two-burner camp stove
--nice porta-potty
--hydraulic jack
--trailer tongue tool box
--hitch lock -- plus all keys that lock up the trailer, tool box, etc.
--padded floor, throw rugs and curtains
--your very own Kansas One-Ton exempt custom tag: "Tornado Bait"
--judging from the tire wear on the old tires, the frame is straight, but no guarantees.
