Fall 2012: Any Plans?

Postby whitby guy » Tue Aug 21, 2012 4:39 pm

Hi all.
Wondering if anyone wants to have one more camp in the provincial parks before they close for the season (it's coming sooner than we think, only 6 weeks)?
Most camp grounds are open until the first weekend of October, but some close earlier...any thoughts on a group gathering?
I'm liking the last weekend in September...28/29/30 kinda thing.

Hi T.
Still looking at Craigleith. Campground B, sites along the lake (4,5,6,7,8).
They still have openings for the end of September. Anyone else have ideas?

The gathering in Michigan is 4 1/2 hours away...a bit of a hike.

Would dearly love to but the advantages of being married to the teacher, June July and part of August mean we are out of time (she has been teaching for a week already. We do plan on doing Lake Superior Provincial park next year and will reserve one of the beach sites as soon as reservations open next year. I hope for a couple of weeks in July.

Wow. That's a bit of a hike...Sure would like to try that, but summertime vacation is limited to the odd long weekend. It's our busy time at work.
Keep us posted as to how the plans are coming along (dates, campsites, etc.). I'll keep dreaming.

MountainBiker and I have a week's camping booked Sept 22 - 29. We will be up along the Ottawa River near Stonecliffe (between Mattawa and Deep River area). We are trying a private campground called Morning Mist Resort.... in case anyone would care to join us... :D
We had originally booked into Driftwood at the end of August but had to change because of some work conflicts so now we are going this week instead. Unfortunately Driftwood is closed for the season by that time, so we are going to try this place instead.

Last minute decision...signed into Awenda to bookend the season. Wolf campground site 207.
If anyone is in the area let me know and I'll throw another shrimp on the barbie.

Haven't seen that much rain since Fish Creek a few years ago. Spent Friday night just north of Barrie at my neice's farm. Man did it pour. Saturday had pretty severe rain as well. Finally put the kayak into Kettle's Lake on Sunday morning. Water was like glass, morning mist rising. Beautiful.
The website had the park sold out when I booked, but there must have been a lot of cancellations due to the weather. The park was only half full.

Still might try to get out one more time before things shut down for the winter. Keep me posted if you are heading out.
