That makes sense I thought all I would have had to do was use some of that externabond tape.At least that is something I will remember when I do find a trailer.

Ok I stumbled up on this one after missing the last thing that I really wanted I said I would hunt until I find something. This was on craigslist but I just happened to see it in the guys yard. Now what I looked up was the astro van is known for reliability with that 4.3 engine I looked on you tube and couldn't believe the number of people that have done excellent jobs with them for dirt cheap and turning them into camper vans. Two things it has 263000 miles on it.And it has a bit of humming coming from the rear end meaning change the oil in the differential or replace the beaings or use a kit to replace the gears in it I called my mechanic and he said you might very well only need to bring it in and we can change the gear oil and put some lucas treatment in it.He also said chevy never should have stopped making the astro he swears people maintain them and get 3 and 4 hundred thousand miles on them he just said I have never lied to you if you want it get it.So the guy says I can have it for 675 although in the ad he is asking for 850.So being the newbie as I said I will always come here first and get opinions so its mine if I want it.So any negative or positive thoughts and would anybody else here buy it.

Well I checked with the place that sevices my vehicles and I talked with a mechanic that works at a local dealership and they said save your money it needs a new differential and that could cost about two thousand.Or like the mechanic said its better having your money in your pocket and wishing you had a camper than buying something and wishing you hadn't.So I will just slow it down and continue to look.

too bad those 2 didn't work out. Sometimes its for the best. Sometimes the repairs aren't worth it either. Keep lookin. You'll find what you're looking for.

Ok everybody curse me or congratulate me.For starters yes I did buy it but no I did not pay 900 for it I will tell you the price later. My cousin and I saw this yesterday when we were passing by we had gone to a barbq and didn't know it was listed on facebook. It rides like its brand new I will post some more pics in a few days.No slipping transmission/no misfiring/tranny shifts super smooth we cannot find any leaks any where.Radio/front and rear ac works flawless/power windows operate just fine. All lights work no overheating or idiot lights.I hooked it up to my obd nothing found/Carfax everything good. The guy said his dad had it since new and he had maintenance from the last two years. Its got a trailer hitch on it.So I could pull a small trailer with it.For now I will do a little bit at a time and make it a camper van.I got it at 10 this mourning and I have got it registered and insured and have been running it ragged all day rides great on the highway. If anybody drove it I don't see how they could find any fault with it.Or like my dad said you miss something and another thing could popup from nowhere. So I will stop babbling for now.Best part I got it for 600 I think that's ok.

Iam going to go to goodwill and look for some camping gear.I have some shelving that might work great to use as a platform for a bed.The legs seem like they will be high enough to put plastic containers under for storage.I saw a you tube video where they did that. Also I will find some curtains for the windows. And find some foam and an air mattress.

Just an update on what iam doing so for.I found a coleman 2 burner stove for 15 bucks at a yard sale and for 5 bucks I got a new fold up charcoal grill.I bought a coleman trailhead cot and a porta potty at Walmart.I need to find some storage bins. This weekend I want to see what curtains I can find and put up for privacy.I have a question what might be best using reflectix or just curtains or both?

Blackout curtains work great to keep light out. Whether its from vehicles passing by or the light poles that some places put up for public safety. They can keep some, if very little heat and cool out. Reflectix is good for both light and heat and cold. Curtains are prettier. :D
