Storage inside

Postby ALAN GEDDES » Wed Jul 21, 2004 7:54 pm

I have full size 15 inch deep cabinet at rear wall. Should I build in some small shelves or cabinets on sides above the door height for smaller stuff like books, and such ? It doesn't seem like they would be in the way at all. What do you more experienced campers think ? ALAN

Alan,
I would also be interested to see Frank's shelves above the windows.
My experience in a 4 foot wide trailer would make me think carefully about extra shelves anywhere.
When you get moving around in there, dressing, adjusting tv, etc...doesn't leave one much room to avoid bumping into things.

Alan, how wide is your trailer. I am putting cabnets around the the foot end of the bed in the shape of a u due to my wide trailer. My tear is going to be 6'8x10 feet. 2 and 1/2 for kitchen, 1 and 1/2 for storage with fold out kids bed on top, and 6 foot bed that makes a dinnet. You must have at least a 9 foot tear? And at the front I am having a reach through hitch box and a combanation bookcase/cabnets at the front on the sides of the bed being 12w by 14 deep. So I dont need any more space. I say you should make a combination of shelves and cabnets in the space, just my two cents but I have thought myne out quite a bit and think that a combo is the best choice.

I put a small shelf above my window. It works well for books, glasses, wallets, keys, etc... You can see the feature in this photo...

My Tear is 4 ft wide and I plan on using 10 x 10 Screened shelter outside. I think that if storage high on sides is only 6 or 8 inches deep it should be out of the way. ALAN

I like it! I was thinking about putting the usual shelf over the head of the bed but I think I'd be much less likely to bash my head on these.

Thanks Frank, and thanks Mike for posting them!
