Is that aluminum mounting system something I might find in a hardware store, and what would I ask for? Or is it something I would have to find online? It looks really easy!

It is really easy, Dean. Here's the one I got.

But laziness set in so instead I purchased one of those fold in half, plastic top, steel leg, 4' x 2' camp tables. It is sturdy but lightweight. The legs can be set to counter height or table height. And I it stows neatly on the bed of the teardrop for travel.

I bought one of those also, very handy to have and now I use it more than the table I built.

I have a wooden (of course) side table that is held in place with two C clamps and supported by 2 adjustable legs. It supports my camp stove and cooler, etc and keeps bacon grease off of my galley deck and cabinets. Works great, no holes, in tear,no problem.

Just another idea.
Have seen a crutch used as an adjustable table leg.

I am hesitant to muck up my sides
I didn't want more holes in the side (although my finish is not comparable to his, I still have too many holes there already). So, I wanted to attach a table to the metal frame, also removable. I had some legs left from a cheap computer desk I was throwing away, and I re-purposed them by adding plywood I cut to fit my Coleman stove. I added another surface to hold cooking stuff as well. The two pieces of wood are mounted by thumbscrews to the legs, and then the rear legs drop into the eyebolts I mounted on both rear sides of the trailer (use the side you want to avoid wind, sun, or disturbing others). For added stability, just wrap a bungee around the adjacent pipe-clamp stabilizer and/or attach the (not shown) leg spreader/brace to the front legs. Knockdown/assembly time 5 minutes. Weight < 10 lbs.. Stores inside with the mattress folded over it and the cooler stand (also re-purposed material). If needed, the cook stand can be used away from the trailer; the cooler stand is totally free-standing. UPDATE> 8/25/13> I finally had room to mount and test the side table cooking stand, when I was making my lantern hangers.(I did have to drill two more holes, alas). Here it is: 111493111495

Okay, I had to jump into the fray with my own take on side tables. I wanted the flexibility to rotate them, AND to have my umbrella overhead.

So I have fabricated a metal arm that slips into a channel underneath. Then the table tops are 1/2 birch with two plys around the edges and at the mounting points. The round hole for the post has a metal sleeve. The tables also have a side support arm that hinges back down the upright.

I like it so far. Time will tell how stable they are in use.

GoWesty has a light weight Folding 4-Position Aluminum Camp Table that looks very versatile for more kitchen counter space or used as a one or two person dining table. The table top is 31.5" x 15.7" when unfolded. The closed dimensions 17" x 16" x 3" would take up very little storage space.
http://www.gowesty.com/ec_view_details.php?id=23649&category_id=&category_parent_id= has more information and good pictures :pictures: of the table. The table could be used wherever you want, next to your teardrop, or maybe taken to a potluck. It can be set up at four different heights and has leg adjusters for uneven ground. With one of these you would not need to screw table brackets into the side of your trailer or to weld receivers to the trailer frame. It seems like a good weight saver too.

For many moons, we have been searching for the most compact, durable, and affordable table available, and we have finally found it. Perfect for one or two people, this cleverly designed table has become an instant GoWesty favorite! Weighing in at a scant 6.5 pounds, this sturdy (yet light-weight) table is the perfect compact companion for Westy travel. It features an all-aluminum frame with an attractive and durable silver laminate top and an additional lower mesh shelf for storage or air drying dishes.

It can be quickly and easily adjusted to four convenient heights, and it includes adjusters at the bottom of each leg for leveling on uneven terrain.

Product specs:
• Weight: 6.5lbs
• All aluminum frame and legs
• Laminate top
• Height adjusts to approx. 12", 17.25", 21.3", or 26.6"
• Closed dimensions: 17" x 16" x 3"
Price: $59.95

GoWesty http://www.gowesty.com/ is a nearby VW camper restoration company. They have a good selection of other camping gear on their website.
