12 inch to 14's

For anyone interested in going to larger wheels on their Harbor Freight trailers the Chevy Celebrity axle I got at the Junk Yard should be a direct bolt on swap. The springs I bought are 500 LB slippers like on the HF and the axle is the correct width. Cost $85 Tire to Tire. AL G

Hey Al,

Are you saying the Cavalier wheels will fit the HF hubs, or that you have to replace the whole axle?

The whole axle and wheels. Had to cut off all the old brackets with sawsall and buy longer U bolts. I can even see utilizing the parking brake with an added handle. AL

Ah. I don't have any major problems with the axle, just want to find larger replacement wheels. I have the lighter (990#) trailer and need to match that four-bolt pattern. I think Escort wheels match the bolt pattern but the offset is too deep. I have a full-size spare in the back of the Escort, I just haven't pulled it out to try it on for size yet.

Joseph; I only paid $85 for the complete axel assy with two excellent tires at the junk yard. You could probably cut and extend that HF axel 3 or 4 inches overall and get by if your rims fit. AL

Thanks Chip! I may consider that if I can't find a four-lug that pans out. I'm in no real hurry to get rid of my brand-new 12" wheels but a larger wheel would be a cosmetic improvement.
