Especially on weekends.

Yesterday I didn't do anything, to cold, gray, and threatened rain all day... but today the sun came out... and I decided to paint...

I didn't have my webcam set up (reformatted the laptop), so I got a roving photographer to take a few shots... almost as good as a webcam!!!

The archived shots are here...

Mike,

How many gallons of that paint did it take to cover the tear.

In the pic's that stuff looks like the pvc that Bev used on her tear.

I like it.

It took 1 gallon of paint to cover the teardrop minus the hatch.

It's has a texture, like the walls in your house, that have been painted with a roller. That's probably because I used a medium nap roller. I also used a polyester roller, and got a lot of fur balls in the paint.

I talked to the manufacturer today, and it appears the roller disintegrated. He recommended that I sand smooth, and use a solvent resistant roller with lambs wool.

I tested the sanding part this evening. It sands nicely. The paint is soooo hard that the fur balls sand right off! I tested it with a drywall sanding sponge, and also a random orbital sander and 60 grit sandpaper. Both worked well.

Hoping to get out soon and finish sanding so I can get a second coat on it. The second coat should be a lot smoother (flatter) due to the shorter nap on the roller. At this rate I should be able to get my stickers on it pretty soon, eh? 8)

I really need to work on the hatch though. I got all the ribs in now. Just have to sand it and glue some skin on.

I can tell I'm getting closer to the end. All I want to do is camp!!! :o

Mike...

P.S. 2 gallons to cover a teardrop with 2 coats is a pretty inexpensive way to finish it!!!

Well I hope some people (other than us) have been out and about using their tears! We just came back from a 7 day trip which included 4 nights camping at 3 different locations. Great to be back on the road again!
