Re: New TTT - The Boxcar - New Sliding Bed

General Discussion about almost anything Teardrop or camping related

More progress, I've been skinning and finishing the walls.

Vacuum bagged the pop top walls so the Filon adheres well.

Image

Applied the finish coat on the interior of the street side wall.

Image

and applied CPES to the inside fender well.

Image

We got the filon on the street side wall and mounted it to the trailer - but I forgot to take PICTURES!!!

Now the trailer is turned around and its facing the wall; I can't get any pictures today (I'm too tired to move it). More to come.

What about the vac bag? Poly, rolled and sealed?

Looking terrific!

Thanks Steve!
The bag is made from 10mm poly from the paint department at HD. I tried rolling and clamping it but it leaked too much that way. We ended up just taping it shut with packing tape. First, I squirted titebond glue on the framing and Jean spread it out with a foam paintbrush. We laid the plywood down and shot a few pins to keep it in place while we bagged it. Jean held the edges of the bag together and I taped it down. The hard part (and it wasn't really that hard) is to get the tape on without bunching up the plastic and causing leaks. Then we turned on the vacuum and made sure the tape was stuck down everywhere ( you can hear if there are any leaks). 30 minutes later and its done! I was worried about burning up the vacuum because of a lack of air flow but my vacuum leaks enough internally that it wasn't a problem.

More progress on the front bulkhead and benches:

Shelves for the front cabinets:

Benches/Bed:

The stereo, XM radio, lights, meter etc. turned into a wiring nightmare. Glad I did this from the back before I put the ceiling on:

Image

I've since installed the ceiling, wired the stereo, installed the drop down DVD player, added LED lighting inside and installed the AC unit. I'm slowly waking up the electrical system. More pictures later, I'm too bushed to take some today.

Yeah we went. We had fun but it wasn't nearly as big this time as it has been in the past. No margaritas either

Kdog and Burke,

Thanks guys, I'll post some more photos when I get around to taking some more. The back half will pop-up and be a standie but the front half is around 4'-6" tall. I got the windows off eBay, can't remember who the seller was since I bought them around a year ago. Its been a long build :?

Here's some pictures of the inside with the ceiling in. I'm really pleased with how the LED lights turned out. They're 3W Luxeon LEDs with a 3500K color temperature I mounted inside regular RV lights from eBay. You'd never guess they were LEDs looking at them:

Image

I used regular 5000K LEDs to light up the niche above the cabinets and they have the expected blueish color. But they use less current than the 3500K LEDs. There's always a trade off. The AC is on slides so the condenser section can be pushed outside when in use.
Image

Picked some fun pulls for the cabinets on Jean's recommendation:
Image

Drop down DVD player. I thought about putting it on a lazy susan so we could watch it through the door but nixed that idea. Too complicated
