The more I look at it the more convinced I am that it's all arcs of circles. Should be stupid simple. Speaking of simple, has anyone tried to contact the builder?

That PS version isn't nearly as elegant. Besides, it's 10'--too big.

Have you all checked out the Design Library. The 'Midget 2' could be modified to what your looking for.
Here's the link to the Midget 2

This is what I did when I was ready to build my teardrop. It's a photograph of a Kinskill ;)

[quote="Tumbleweed_Tex"]Equipped with only a photograph, can anyone draw and dimension a profile, just by using a known measurement, such as a 14â€

I LOVE that little trailer :)
And to think that design was popular all those years ago, and I like it best.
Thanks for posting it.

I love that Wander Bug (as it's called in the Vintage Plans), though I think a few folk would be a bit shocked by its all-timber chassis!

If I pull my finger out and get the web page finished, I will soon have plans for a similar trailer to go on a HF 4x8 trailer. I'll publicize them again here so that people can put pressure on me to get the job done!

Even I am kinda embarrassed to see I posted these 'teaser' images a year ago!

Andrew,

Fantastic little standy trailer. We anticipate your plans, but will not bug you (too much.)

Take care,

Okay, this ain't gonna be purty, but the process results in something like sausage--er, canned ham. Certainly better than listening to the R candidates slice and dice one another.

Think back to high school--just for a minute. Painful, eh? Remember that x,y coordinate stuff in one of those math classes you took? You finally get to use it.

Get some graph paper, a ruler, a pencil, and a compass. Lay out vertical and horizontal lines from a point to your lower left. Where they meet is 0,0. Coming back too you yet? Go sideways on the horizontal line (x-axis) to 40 units out to the right. That's 40,0--mark and label it. Then go up from 0,0 to 32 on the vertical line (y-axis). That's 0,32--mark/label. Then go up from 40,0 and right from 0,32 to find 40,32. connect these to make a rectangle.

Now I'm going to give you a list of coordinates for you to mark and label. Here goes: 8,0 - 15,0 - 22,0 - 23,2 - 30,2 - 20,6 - 8,8 - 23,9 - 17,15 - 25,17 - 29,21 - 25,30. Remember, first one is x, second number is y.

Grab your compass and let's strike some arcs.

With point at 29,21 draw a line (arc) from the top of the rectangle to the right side line. You just cut off the upper right corner, right?

With point at 23,9 draw an arc from the top to the left side. Then keep this setting and move the point to 17,15 and draw an arc from the right side down to the bottom of your box.

Now go over to 8,8 and draw an arc from 8,0 up to touch the left side. Then to 15,0 and swing a semicircle from 8,0 up and over to 22,0.

For yuks let's put in a door. Point of compass at 25,17 and lead at 25,30 swing a short arc side to side to define the top. Grab the ruler and draw from 30,2 up to this arc and from 20,6 up to the arc on the other side. Back to the compass and strike one last arc with 15,0 as the vertex and the lead at 23,2 and up and over to about 20,6.

That should be mostly pretty close. You can fine tune things from here. There's a little flat surface at the front for a window. That may need to be adjusted in order for the front window (if any) to land above a counter, should there be one at the front. Maybe not if there's a dropped floor. There's also a little flatness to the middle of the roof for a vent.

I'm thinking a gaucho/daybed across the back (storage under), galley in front with a closet and/or w/c at port side forward. And maybe round windows--one in the door and another matching directly across on the other side--an auto moonroof overhead, an oval across the back, couple of marine solar vents...

Somebody with one o' them fancy scanner thingies can draw this up and post it. Or maybe some CAD gizmo can draw the lines. You could post it over among the designs as well as here.

Kermit, here are your dimensions drawn out:

Image

Would you please recheck this instruction:
Then keep this setting and move the point to 17,5 and draw an arc from the right side down to the bottom of your box.

That draws the lower red arc that barely cuts the bottom front corner. From your photos, I would think this arc should be centred on something like 17,13 which is drawn in magenta.

And are these dimensions scaled 1"=2.5" so that the final body is 100" long by 80" high?
