Back from rustic camping

Postby beverlyt » Wed Apr 06, 2005 9:15 am

We just got back from quick overnight campout up north, deep in the woods on a friends property.

We had a nice warm day (around 70 degrees) but it was REALLY windy. The hatch didn't fly off though, so it was good.

Heard some wild turkeys in the woods, but have yet to hear any of the coyotes Bob has seen and heard in previous years.

Though temperatures dropped to about 48 degrees this morning, I threw on my winter coat and was comfortable enough making breakfast.

Stayed nice and warm in the teardrop.... though I just can't help but feel sleeping two in the 4' wide trailer actually almost borders on misery for me. I don't sleep well at all, though it still beats sleeping in a tent. This has been a real disappointment for me. Otherwise, the teardrop is all I expected it to be.

Bob doesn't mind the small space as much. At least he slept comfortably enough.

Have to go 2 hours from here to get a place like you were at.

Will have to go ,getting ready to go to China think there are any Tear Drops there.

Ain't it just great. I go on a "out in the Boonies" trip about twice a year and its really why Teardrops were invented.

Happy Trails

Hi Bev,

It's so nice to see you being able to camp out, already!! What a beautiful
place!!! I would have thought, you'd still be snowed in!! I've been able
to only squeeze in two camping weekends, so far. We've had so much
rain out here, in Northern California, and more on the way....

Jan,
Well, that's just terrible that you haven't been able to camp any more than that in CA!

It was pretty unusual for us to camp this early in Michigan, but I watched the weather which has been pretty nice for around here and picked what I thought was going to be a good day for us.

Though I also like camping in campgrounds, there is something about being out in the middle of nowhere that I like. (Was raised on a 40 acre farm in the boonies and ran the woods with the best of em, growing up)

Bob and I don't turn the tv on in the woods. We take walks, play a game of dice or cards, keep the noise down and just listen to the quietness of nature.
Love to hear the Whippoorwills calling at dusk.

It just feels good after the hustle of work, etc.

Hope you're out camping soon!

Rhonda: Can you BELIEVE this weather we've been having??? Yeah!
