Changing trailers - need recommendations

General Discussion about almost anything Teardrop or camping related

Postby OurStuff4You » Wed Jun 16, 2004 10:53 am

We're tentatively scheduled to go to Cedar Point camping with a group of our neighbors. If we don't go, we'd definitely stop by! We're going to have our tear at Greenfield Village's Motor Muster this weekend at the Sloan Museum next weekend as part of their vintage campground set-up. You planning on being by either of those shows?

Still setting up a tent along with the tear is a pain in the neck to him. Me, I will miss my little tear ... but I do see his point. Anyway, staying vintage ... any suggestions???

Well, not vintage, but "vintage look"-

I just posted my fantasy teardrop for a family of four-

No sketches but you could make it with the same profile and paint scheme as your Benroy.

Well... the Benroy has been sold. We received a deposit on it yesterday, so no more camping for us until we find another trailer. The hunt is on! Ideally we'll get another teardrop for times when it's just hubby and me ... and a larger "small vintage trailer" for when we take the kids with us. Anyone know of a tear or trailer for cheap near Michigan???

Rhonda,

I check out the trailers on ebay all the time. If I see anything interesting near you I'll let you know.

You might want to check out Serro Scotty trailers. There are several sizes starting from 10' on up. They are east coast trailers so we don't see them much out here.

This is what the smallest ones look like.

This one is on ebay right now. Not the greatest shape but gives you an idea of the size and layout. Here is the link to the auction.

They did make a smaller teardrop type trailer but they aren't very common.

I'll remove your contact information from the page for your Benroy but the page will remain.

By the way, did Dennis buy it?

Nick.

And here is another one up right now, a little bigger but it looks very nice and the price is still low.

Thanks. I've emailed the seller of the one in Michigan to see if we can go look at it in person. We had a chance to buy a Met with a Serro Scotty trailer that had been painted to match when I was looking for mine. We passed on the car and trailer, but now I kinda wish we'd bought it. The interior had been gutted though. Also, hubby wants a trailer with a bathroom if we're going bigger. I don't see it as a big deal - after all, we camp in a teardrop ... but ... Anyway, I also have this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=50063&item=2483713830&rd=1 on my watch list. Hubby's business partner lives in Englewood, FL which is right next to Sarasota, so we'd be able to get this one no problem.

Did you guys see this one on eBay? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=50063&item=2483411543&rd=1 Different tear .. not for me, but interesting.

Nick,

Yes, Dennis is buying it. We're trying to find an economical way to get it from here to there. He's received some pretty high shipping quotes. We're going to call a few places from our end. I sure wish I had 2 weeks clear to drag it out there ourselves. It would be very cool to meet Bennett in person. I did ask for a picture of him with the trailer. I'm really sad about selling it, but I am excited about it going to the family. And, now, we can look for another tear that is less original so we can update it and paint it to match the Met!

That one in Canada is for sale again on Ebay. It didn't get anywhere near what they're asking for it. You'd have the same shipping problem.

There is also a cool aluminum tear on Ebay that only weighs 300 lbs.

Maybe you could make a road trip to california to deliver one and on your way back pick up another.

Just random thoughts.

Nick.
