T&TTT Photo Albums

Postby campadk » Mon Jun 14, 2004 3:15 pm

Hey Mike,

Can you increase the quota assigned to members for photos? Not sure if you have any issues with disk quotas.

Also does the photo add on allow members to have multiple albums? So far it looks like everything would be in no specific order. Would be nice to create sub albums to organize things. Mines a mess right now.

I use PhotoPost on the forum I run which provides that feature. Quite nice.

Is the quota currently so many photos? So many MB's? or is it a total for all photos?

PS. The albums are a great feature on T&TTT! It's great to find them in one place and so many people have problems with albums on yahoo and such.

You could probably have links under the forums based on keywords so people can find photos for a specific topic such as:

galley, cabin, trailer, a/c, windows, cabin storage, tongue box, fenders etc.

You can see how this works on one of my other 'special interest' sites
(see the 'Member Photo Galleries' towards the bottom of the page which link to photos by main keywords)... http://timefortuckerman.com/forums/index.php

Cheers

You know I tried running PhotoPost for PostNuke, and just could not get the permissions working right. No matter what I did only the admin level could create albums. I have had to switch to the same album as here (which I did not notice before).

If Mike has a limit on the amount of drive space he has, I will be happy to handle the overflow.

Mike, perhaps if you have space issues, you can restrict the actual size of photos, so there can be a larger number. I would be happy to write you up a FAQ on proper image compression techniques to give the maximum quality and minimum size.

I'm not aware of any quotas on photos. Just a size restriction... Let me take another look and I'll get back to you...

Okay here are the limits...

Photo size max 800x600
File size max 360,000 bytes
Max number of pictures per user 100.

Let me know if you think that's enough, I can always open it up some more.

Mike...

P.S. Recommended photo size = 640x480 so those folks still on a landline can see them too!!!

Mine are usual 742x557.. odd size but works well in some of my online album software I use.

I only have 10 photos uploaded.

If I try to add another I get...

"This category has reached the quota of pics. Now you cannot upload any more. Please contact the administrators for more information"

Ah, I found it... there's a separate field for the personal albums... it was set at 10. I've just bumped it up to 100... so give it another try!

Say Dave, speaking of pictures. How long does it take you to get ready to go camping?

Have a good day,
Gage

Well Gage....

I'll let you know shortly. With our new improvements we hope to reduce the time to get ready from 2 hours to about 45 minutes, start to finish.

We (well at least I) have all the clothes I need in the tear. Galley is always ready to go. Basically the time to get ready is determined by the time to get the canoe and bikes up on top of our PT Cruiser, load a cooler and toss some bread, crackers and freshly ground coffee in the food box.

Figures we just finished major changes on our tear for this year and yet we are going camping in a TENT for 4 days next week!

By the way Gage... check out our CD/radio. You inspired me after looking at all your hi-tech stuff in your tear. Can't believe the car CD/radio I bought came with a remote! What the heck do you do with a remote in a car??

Didn't use a filter actually. Just easier to tweak a digital camera since you get immediate feedback.
