TD Manufacture Suggestion: 4 Receiver Tubes? Here's Why...

General Discussion about almost anything Teardrop or camping related

After reading the post I would like to offer an alternative that we are using. We have three tarps that attach with Kedar rail to three sides of the tear. The Kedar rail is UV stabilized plastic and attached with 3M VHB tape. The goal was not to have a not so easy up 8)

The only needed supports are tent poles and stakes. there is a great deal of flexibility in how it is erected.

The system worked very well at Boogie in the Hills with its usual thunderstorms.

Man what a great idea. That is great I think they may just add them to campers at no cost just to sell all the attachments that could be added on and sold as options. This was the most innovative idea for a camper, be it a teardrop a TTT or any camper. Just the attachments that could be sold and uses that can be thought of is endless. Hey one thing we may have a way now to keep our ezups from flying away also.

now that is a idea. I have a rear door Scotty with a hitch out the back so I can pull my john boat. So I could hook the motor to the rear hitch and have a boat and not have to pull my john boat.

This is a great thread! I thought I would post here to pull it back up to the top for folks to see who are new here like me. Someone had asked about a dog area on their teardop; I think on page three there is a 'pup pod' that attaches to the teardrop via a receiver hitch. Brilliant!

I have a silly question. How much should one expect to pay to have four receivers mounted onto their frame? Or, if it's easier, how much per receiver?

I saw something like this on the Vacations in a Can web page. They used the same basic idea to mount side tables, etc.

I like the idea of using them to help mount various bike racks, etc. that will swing out of the way when you need them too!

We also thought that the four receivers was a terrific idea and had a friend weld them underneath our trailer. I also designed three different types of tables and he made them up in stainless steel so that I could put my dutch ovens and other hot stuff on them without worry. The best one is Rob's barbecue table which swings out, swivels and slides to adjust for campsite terrain.

I prefer the preforated tubing much smaller and lighter and its on nathons remode to oasis makers shelter logic set up

which for me with wyoming wind was a flop and a disastor.

I moved on fromt the shelter logic coversion to a much more wind fiendler ez, up and I got a nat gear claimshell shelter thing that I have not tried out yet.

I have kept the old preferated tubing set up welded under my frame of my teardrop.

and even though it doesn't use any more the shelter logic set up its in use for varous things.

just depends on what I am in the mood for.

I really have gotten beyond needing the recever mounted side tables though as bob henrys sattalite table set up with the walker took over a lot of the side tables chores as did my normaly rail mounted table on the wall of the teardrop and cast off from a old pop up trailer I demolished.

I do have one normal recver tube welded on the front on my teardrop and never really have found a use for it.

I now have a under the frame of back bumper storage drawer kitchen set up and this slides out to give me more stove space so I am pretty much over the side mounted tables an the reverer tables set up.

I plan to use my prefertoate recerver tubes now to hold a long hook for a white gas lantern.

and maybee to tye down my nat gear clamshell shelter thingy.

I have not even tried this or taken it out of the bag as the ez ups are about the easest freindlys fast thing to set up on the market today compared to other styles of shelters.

and its way to easy to tye them down in wyoming wind with racheting strapes.

Any thoughts on a reasonable cost for welding these onto a frame? Sorry for the somewhat ignorant question, but can they be welded on after the teardrop is built?

Sorry to keep asking, but the thread is so good that others are enjoying it, but forgetting my question. What's a reasonable cost to pay for welding 4 receiver hitches onto a frame? Should this be done before building the floor? I guess what I mean is can it be done afterward too?

even though the build I'd like to do is a bit bigger then a teardrop I'd like to put in some extra hitches
