Bumper or no bumper?

General Discussion about almost anything Teardrop or camping related

Postby Georgeandpat » Wed May 11, 2005 11:06 am

Thanks all for your responses. As I suspected, a rear bumper seems like a good idea. True, it won't do much in a major collision but it just might save your hatch or side panel if you bump into something. The only negative seems to be hitting one's shins against it so something rounded, removable, or with a little give seems to be in order. George.

There's always a question about bringing a porta potty along. If you have a good sturdy receiver hitch on your tear, you can make use of the Bumper Dumper.

Put on a receiver tube and use one of these.

See the Bumper Thumper Crash Boom for other details but the guy who replaced my hitch assembly also makes a steel little BBQ that fits into the receiver. It was very sturdy and would be great for Santa Maria style BBQ's. ithad a fire box aprox 1'x2' with a grill that cranked up and down.
Looks perfect for Tailgating but the NFL has abandoned LA so that is not going to happen soon.
They cost $100 but I did not need any extra weight on my Tear after he had finished the repair.

I don't know, having a potty in the kitchen has never been all that appealing to me.

Gross!

HAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And guys, please leave the toilet seat UP!

I could never understand women's obsession with this. If the seat is up and you want it down, just put it down. Would you rather us guys ALWAYS leave it down, even during use, regardless of the business we're doing there?

Add a seat belt and a pair of roller blade, and hey, extra seating for a small SUV!

Re: Bumper or no bumper?

Georgeandpat wrote:Sorry if I missed this topic before. It seems that most tears I've seen pictures of don't have rear bumpers. Right now my hatch handle sticks out and if that gets hit- there goes the hatch. What material has anyone used for a bumper that works well? Is there a bumper made for a Harbor Freight trailer? Thanks, George.
 See Dennis's pictures and ask him about the frame on his trailer. Find out who built his trailer

I wish I had some available credit on the cards to actually BUY them.
 Have you thought about your door yet? I was thinking that a sliding hatch with crib boards would be great for your theme and provide an area with extra headroom 8)

The doors are cut already--rectangle with a semi-circle top, although it's not a true semi-circle. It's a lot less of a radius, to accent the porthole windows if I ever find the ones i want to buy.

And what the heck is a crib board?
