On of my camping buddies is a maintainance man for a hugh apartment complex. He told me when the tenants leave their dish is removed and tossed.

I told him to think of me when he is about to pitch one. There were 2 more walkers at Goodwill yesterday

Goodwill friday a little wire basket for 50 cents and 12+ fancy shower hooks $1.99.

Shop foreman here has a buddy that installs antenna systems professionally. He came in this morning and presented me with 3 oval dishs and asked me how many more I needed or wanted. :D :D :D

The new table top dutch oven stand !.....

The round 500 series satellite dishs would not fit the walkers I had purchased so I decided to try another avenue with them.

Image

installed 3 legs 120 degrees apart using $2.79 worth of carriage bolts nuts and 2" fender washers.

Image

Table is very stout and stable ( I was a bit surprised by the strength)

Image

The carriage bolts were 3/8 diameter by 3 1/2" long

Image

There is about an 1 1/2" clearance under the dish which should prevent any damage to a site picnic table.

I have 3-4 of the larger oval dishs coming soon and have 1 extra walker and hope to pick up 2 more walkers
this weekend that I have found on Craigs list for $9 - $10 each.

Ummm ... that bottom surface is going to get awful hot. It may still scorch the surface it is setting on. I would recommend proceeding w/ caution. Perhaps a slightly wrinkled piece of foil shiny side up on the table as a radiant barrier??? Let us know how it works out ... I've got a couple of these small round dishes kicking around the back yard as well.

Okay, everyone remain calm but I have never *gulp* cooked in a dutch oven before.

However, this satelitte dish on a walker set up has so much appeal to me that I may just have to give it a shot. This suits my personality perfectly, nobody has ever accused me of being highfalutin'.

OK ya gotta trust me on this one. Get a nice big beef roast add a little onion and garlic and 12 ounces of cola , YEP cola , coke, pepsi, dr. pepper, RC what ever. Now toss 12 lit coals on top and 12 on the bottom and walk away. In about 30 minutes add 6 -8 (top and bottom ) fresh bricketts on top of the old ones that are now dying out. This would be a good time to check your cola reserve and add another can or bottle if needed.
When the new coals are all but gone check the roast with a meat thermometer to see if it is to your liking. The phosphoric acid in the cola tenderizes like you would not believe. I put mine direct in the pot but there those on here who would cry foul because it will attack the seasoning so if that is a worry , a foil D.O. liner is a good idea.

We use ours D.O. at home in the oven all the time
