Roof Aluminum

Postby ALAN GEDDES » Sun Jul 25, 2004 8:37 pm

The local aluminum is only 10 Feet long. Going to be about 18 inches short. Question: overlap on the flat front or the downslope before hatch hinge ? Alan PS: Almost forgot to run wires for interior lights before I put on the plywood. OOPS. Alan

How about this? Use a 2' or 3' diamond tread sheet at the front bottom, then your aluminum will be long enough, it'll look good and, better protection from rocks.

Don't know how much it would actually be needed for rock protection since you have 1/8th inch plywood with styrofoam insulation underneath it and aluminum skin on top. But, it would look way cool. I think I am going to use it on my monster when I get to that point.

Hello. This is my first post but this caught my eye. I have a Little Guy TD and the front is protected by diamond plate along with a small strip on the back. I also have a 7x12 utility with the plate on the front. Not only does it look great but I think it adds protection from the little dings that come of the tires. Go to the Little Guy site to see pictures. Http://teardroptrailersexpress.com

Ryan,

From the last road trip we took, 1561 miles round trip, our woodie teardrop did suffer from road debris hits. A rock guard would sure help the body but the fenders of the tear got hit as well.

I knew I would have touch ups to do, just not this soon. Oh well, that's life.
Just break out the touch up paint for the fenders and poly for the dings.
