55mph is just fine for us when towing, and no night driving, either.

If you slip in between the semi trucks, which usually clip along between 60 and 65, they will get the ticket if there is a cop around. That is the way I travel, and for over 10 years, it has worked just fine. You do get better gas mileage if you drive at this speed. Since you are towing a trailer, you have to drive in the far right 2 lanes anyway.

Unless I must get there fast, I muck about on the roads less travelled.

if my tear is in tow I am on vacation and not in a hurry. I tend to look for the route less traveled.

The most frustrating thing about towing isn't the going forward; it's the backing up.

Yes the sign looks like CA. However, i'm sure there are other states with the same laws. Wouldn't have missed the Dam Gathering there. Beautiful setting and people. We talked with dmccamant about going 55-60 forces the relaxation a little more! CA 's not that crazy, helps promote teardrop time.

Sign is pretty typical of California.... Just keep it cool in right hand lane and nobody will look at you.... I roll 60-62 all the time and have had HP pass me while towing and not even blink ...

I'm not quite sure what all of the "wacko" stuff, coming out of California lately, is. Maybe Slow has an inside source for his information. It seems business as usual to me. Right wing, as always, but nothing noteworthy.

As to the 55 mph for trailers, it has been like that for, at least, 55 years, probably longer, since that's as far back as my memory goes. Nobody really obeys it and the CHP looks the other way, as long as you're driving prudently. We do have lane restrictions here and you are required to keep to the right two lanes on the freeways if pulling a trailer. This is for all trailers, whether they're being pulled by a Peterbilt or a motorcycle. We just stay in the number two lane and go with the flow, which is, generally, 65-70 mph.

There are always exceptions. He wrote you for 65 but I'll bet you were going faster than that. If the tomato hauler was going 55, then you're kinda stuck. If he was going 45, you can pass but don't exceed 55. It's all about flow of traffic and not sticking out.
My bike is a ticket magnet. 350 Chevy V8, open exhaust, just a big, fast, ostentatious, absurd beast. So far I've gone 6 years without even a second glance from "The Man". I always try to blend in and not make a big show, though I have been known to hit the throttle pretty hard now and then
