Door size?

Postby catrinka » Sun Aug 08, 2004 9:45 pm

I've been doing some sketches today. Is there an ideal door size? My son now thinks I'm nuts. I went to the store yesterday to measure porti-pottis. If anyone is interested, they run about 14" x 12".

Hey Cathy,

Door size is really up to you. It should be comfortable to get in and out of and be in proportion to the trailer it self. The doors on our teardrop are 34' square. Our teardrop is based from the 47' Mechanix Illustrated "Trailer for Two". Square doors sometimes pose a problem with having to miter cut all of the trim mouldings.

Hope this helps. Ross

Cathy,
I was reading something that Grant had posted the other day and it made good sense. He said that a little extra door width made it easier to get in and out of the trailer, because of the restricted height. (Something to that effect)

As long as you can get in the doors easy than it is the right size! bye
