Yeah spacers are a not a good idea but I'm going from my ase tech background and they are a bead deal on cars. Their big issue is that the larger inner bearing takes most of the load. As you move the tire out further the load is transferred to the outer very small bearing. Spacers have other mechanical issues there as well.
On fwd cars it's much worse because the bearings are smaller and they are well known for short service life in a non abused situation.


But on these small trailers that I doubt any will see any load near the rated capacity by the owners here I guess it really isn't an issue.

I finally saw my first 4x8 hf trailer on the road a couple weeks ago. They don't seem to sell well here. Course few here would be caught dead towing one of them behind their 70k $ truck....

What is the weight of your trailer and tounge weight?
How often do you repack your bearings , do you use red hi temp grease?
Just built a TT on a HF trailer, now that it's done I was questioning the tires
Any info would be appreciated

If the trailer manufacturer recommends a 45 mph maximum then you should build in a safety margin and not exceed 35 mph. :lol:
