Outside USA travel medical insurance?

Postby Cosmo » Fri Dec 29, 2017 6:33 pm

I am planning to head north to Canada a few times in 2018.
Medicare and other US medical insurance seems to stop a the border.
Does anyone have any experience with travel medical insurance?
Any recommendations or costs available?

I am currently in good health.

I can hardly believe the collected wisdom here hasn't responded yet. I have, over the past forty odd years , travelled extensively around the world to exotic locations such as the USA, UK Europe et al and have NEVER gone without travel medical insurance. It would be irresponsible to travel without it, despite sometimes being a drag on the budget. I have always enjoyed (& fortunately still do) good health despite motorcyle incidents in SE Asia & elswhere, eating dodgy recipe foods & suspect municipal waters.
Suck it up & buy some cover. Your family will thank you if you need to claim on it, and it is always the IF.

I remember watching this youtube video about travel insurance recently. Seems like you better take note when you complete the forms

Also this is a good read too
