I'm so sorry to hear about Doug's passing. May the memories stay with his friends and family.
My deepest sympathy,

Been thinking about how we could recognize Doug and his contributions to the teardrop world that influenced so many of us at our upcoming Shasta Lake Gathering. Decided a lantern light up would be an appropriate tribute. So, bring your lanterns and we'll light them up for Doug... after we get so bright he'll be able to see them! we'll dim them one by one and leave a single lantern burning for Doug. If you'd like to participate from afar, light a lantern Friday, April 27th at dusk.

That is a great idea! Probably won't be a dry eye in the woods that night.

I was so sad to hear the news about Doug. I think a lantern light up is the perfect tribute to a fine fellow. I had the pleasure of meeting Doug a few times and hold my American Waffle Dog Association patches dear to my heart. He will be very missed.

I see that one of Doug's campers is up for sale.

Hopefully it finds a good home with someone that can honor Doug's memory.

Just saw this, and had an instant fantasy of buying it! The craigslist post has expired. Anybody know if it was sold or who the buyer might be?

Memorial Camp to honor Doug

Postby The Teardrop Nanny » Sun Aug 19, 2018 9:01 pm

Doug was fond of starting "trends" and a thread on this forum was once a favorite of his: Limericks with a camp/trailer theme
Here is one I just composed that I read at his campground memorial this weekend.

There once was a creative craftsman named Doug,
whose superior talents made him quite smug.
A wood boat and custom trailers he built: but
he became renowned for his skill making a quilt.
We shall remember him now with a group hug,
while enjoying our freshly brewed coffee from
a DougKraft mug.

Jaonie, when you say "our freshly brewed coffee"... I hope that means 'Dutch Oven roasted beans'? Hope you and Dean are still doing well? (am still hanging in there, at my 'upper' end of the coast) take care Ted Hoefer 8)
