I like the small propane bottle better these days. You can buy an adapter to refill them legally now from your big propane bottle. Makes them quite economical that way.

It worked until I fixed it!!!

Propane is the only way to go.

The exception to that would be for a bugout trailer and then you want two way appliances, i.e. Coleman fuel or gas...

Any one that has ever tried has died. Well, maybe it's not that extreme, but there have been deaths related to using catalytic heaters in RV's.

I wouldn't do it. Be safe. Get a forced air propane furnace, that vents it's dangerous fumes to the outside.

Read this for good measure!

:D That little refill adapter is the thing to buy. Harbor Freight $15.00. I have a son in law who empties several small bottles a week in flooring work so I can get them free. Alan

That would work. Not as convenient as a built in furnace, but effective none the less.

Interesting... when I was down in upstate NY last week they refused to refill my 5 lber... appears the connection is different in the US than Canada. Can't believe they made refilling the 1 lber disposables legal! There doesn't appear to be an controll or regulation in transferring from the larger tank. How does that adapter prevent overfilling?

As a matter of interest, I got 12 days of camping out of my 5 lber. Also I was told that to estimate how much gas is left in the tank, simply weight it on a bath scale. Full it is approx 12.5lbs, empty 8.25 lbs... apply your math for results.

Best price I could find to fill it up around here is $5 Cdn. Sure beats the equivalent which is about 9 canisters at $3.50 or $31.50 Cdn.
