Man, I want to do that again. When I was 20, I drove all the way to Calgary.. spent a month and a half travelling in a car that had no business going that far, but somehow it didn't die. Make sure you stop at Riding Mountain.
Dinosaur is worth it as well, but not sure you'll be close to it. Whinny the pooh in white river right beside the A&W for lunch & the suspension bridge over the white river falls (scary!)- though maybe that isn't there anymore. Terry fox monument in Marathon (also pretty close to an A&W). I spent too many days eating A&W because there were like.. none in southern Ontario back then. one in Peterborough and that was it.
*oh and make sure you stop by the montreal river - there was a little turn in just past the bridge going west, though they fenced it off since the last time I was there in 2009. should be enough room to turn around. walk up on the bridge and you can see the hydro plant WAAAAY down at the bottom.
