Fold Down Trailer?

Postby mikeschn » Wed Jul 25, 2018 4:47 pm

Okay, I have to ask....

I've been looking for a link for a vintage trailer that I saw once upon a time. It was a fold down trailer. And it folded flat. Really really flat. I remember seeing 2 pictures... One picture is with the trailer in the up position... there were steps, 3 I think, leading into the trailer. There was a guy standing next to the trailer. And I think the trailer was white.

The other picture was with the trailer folded down. I can't remember if the guy was in that picture...

From a mechanical perspective, the sides lifted up, and then triangle shaped pieces were inserted into the sides.

I know it's not much to go on, but does anyone remember such a trailer?

Jim,

The folding house is similar to the one I am looking for...

It must not be on the internet any more, so I am hoping someone has it on their hard drive.

Any other pics? I am still looking!!!

Thanks,

Mike...

Too bad the front is cut off in the second picture. Looks like the top is not just hinged in the front but lifts as well.

Make the base taller and use a simple hinge in front. I bet you could do the gently curved top in foam without kerfing. I like the low trolley top too. A couple of computer fans in the back for ventilation.

Needs a better solution for the galley. Even with the lifting front it looked like there wasn't enough headroom.

I'm planning on playing with this in CAD and seeing if I can improve on some of the areas, including the low head room in the kitchen. That should probably be the dinette, not the kitchen. Also wonder if it's possible to work a porta-pottie into the layout.

Looks like you could make many parts of that with Foam/pmf … Space age fabrics could replace the “sides” … Crumbs for thought … Everybody loves a folding trailer eh ? …
There’s no place like Foam !
