I didn't realize the last video you linked to was you. I like how you take your Outback where most people won't. My daughter has been looking at getting one and I told her about your video.

We loved getting to the UP when we lived up north. Mostly on the motorcycle, lots of sandy trails, two up on a big bike = a lot of work. Still liked it up there.

When are you coming out the the desert?

Subi has such a great record it was a no brainer for me. Its a capable car but not a 4X4 truck!
It did everything I asked it to.
When I was shopping I was torn between the Toyota Tacoma and the Outback.
When I got practical about my actual needs VS my imagined uses... the Outback came out ahead of other cars in its class.

No regrets on the Outback purchase.

I drove/towed 5K miles on this trip and used zero oil

I loved the video.

The wife and I spent a week up there last summer. Going up next month to visit some friends that live up there.

My daughters first choice is a Tacoma but she realizes an Outback will happen a lot sooner than a Taco. She drives a Nissan Frontier now.

"actual needs VS my imagined uses" This is a great line. And one of the reasons I don't spend much time looking at Overland Journal, or Overland Bound. It is easy to get caught up in the hype and think you need all this expensive stuff. Or you'll be on these long expeditions away from civilian for weeks on end. I call it drinking the Overland Kool-Aid.
