Trailers recommendations

Currently my plans is for a 5x9 TD.

Anyone care to recommend a supply for the trailer itself.

Lots of folks start with the NT 5 x 8 - eithrr steel or aluminum. Easy to build 5 x 9 on it. Might move axle back and/or replace axle, maybe lengthen tongue, and probably replace liggts (on steel one at least.)

Or have a trailer built custom or build it yourself.

Or find and old boat/pop up camper/utility trailrer and modify.

Maybe. It depends on which way you extend the extra foot. If you hang it off the rear, I doubt you can leave the axle where it is. You want 60/40 split generally, with more weight forward. Take some time and try to figure out where and how you will distribute the weight as you go. This means where is the battery, on board water, cast iron cookware, or whatever you plan on. Where the axle is also effects where your fenders go, which limits where your doors can go. When I do a build, I get a large box (refrigerator) or a couple sheets of cheap 1/4" plywood and make a full size plan. I draw in everything, including the thickness of shelves, counters, roof spars etc. This will give you perspective.

I have custom built a trailer frame and also done one on a Harbor Freight frame and if I were to do it again I would do one on a pop up frame. you can get them on CL for very cheap if you look for a while and sometimes you will get lucky and get a title. I have three frames here right now LOL Much cheaper way to go and the popup that you teardown and take off of there will likely have some parts you can use or at least sell on CL. (Imagine getting a $600 propane fridge with your $400 popup camper) 8)
